What it says on the tin. Mine are:

Jake and Janette's Salsa
Frankie and Kevin's Tango
Pet Monkey

Simon and Kristina's QS

I've 3:

Jake's Salsa, of course. Totally floored me.

Sunetra's classic American Smooth.

Pixie's Samba, the moment I finally 'got' her.

1-Pixie's Samba : that's when I finally clicked with her and her partnership with Trent; It was a turning point; I re-watch it constantly; it was so much fun and different from what we are used to see on strictly imo. I still think that if she performed it weeks later, she would have received 10s and deservingly so imo

2-Frankie's Paso :I absolutely love it. I like how for such a bubbly girl she does dramatic dances so well...

3-Pixie's Foxtrot and Frankie's Tango

Funnily enough these 2 are not really my favorites per se but they're in my top 3

4-Sunetra's AS Gorgeous, stunning & Simon's Jive

5-Steve's Tango/Waltz
chachachavvy

I have actually published academic articles on the Brontes, Wuthering Heights is my favourite novel of all time and the Kate Bush song of one my favourite songs. In a million years I could never have envisaged the interpretation of the novel dreamt up by Alison and Aljaz. I think I described it at the time as Mahalia Jackson dancing with Jim Dale on a 1976 Beverly Sisters Variety Special. I have looked into my heart and discovered that is precisely my idea of entertainment.

I would make a new list but I don't think I could disagree with any of these, so I'll just be lazy and repeat it...

Yes worth repeating. Mark's Samba was also a "wow where did that come from?" moment.

1. Frankie & Kevin - Paso Doble
2. Frankie & Kevin - Tango
3. Mark & Karen - Jive
4. Pixie & Trent - Samba
5. Pixie & Trent - Foxtrot

I loved Simon & Kristina's Quickstep also. I find Jake & Janette's Salsa extremely overrated.

BIB Me too but I think that a lot of people were/are wowed by it because no one really expected anything from him and then he came up with THAT salsa and everyone was like " wait.....were did that come from " ? Its more of a novelty imo.....

Its like everyone expecting you to be rubbish or mediocre and then you produce something that they never expected...the unexpected....I think that it was really good for week 2 BUT it wasn't THAT good as some people make it seem here IMO. I just think it has more to do with the fact that people expected him to have 2 left feet and he surprised them.

...so far, all things considered, Frankie's Tango, despite my not exactly being a Frankie fan.

Jake's Salsa has the massive "OH MY GOD THAT DESERVES 736 10S I'M SO SHOCKED I'VE BURST AFLAME" tag attached, and I stand by the fact it would get at least 1 10 if performed now, but it was a bit messy.

I seem a bit alone in really loving Pixie's Rumba; that was the moment I got her as a contestant, albeit one who hadn't quite mastered hip action. And if Mark Wright can cry, so can Pixie.

Sunetra's Foxtrot had me SCREECHING IN FRUSTRATION for the 10 seconds she lost it, because sans mistake it was better than Frankie's Tango (and all the other dances so far), but alas the mistakes happened.

Also, for sheer, mescaline-induced joy, Alison's American Smooth.

Me too. It wasn't bad but it wasn't brilliant. His foot action was too gross to be good. The keepy uppies were impressive but that was mostly Janette's physicality. Plus stuff like that really doesn't belong in salsa.

For authenticity and real technique John Barnes is still the best for me.

Although I really enjoyed Jakes salsa it was step for step the routine Janette performed on SYTYCD which was a tad disappointing - and have to agree the nearest to a salsa for is still John Barnes one

Wait till you see the Simon / Kristina AT on Saturday. It will be pretty far from AT as you know it. But will get a pair of 9s and a pair of 10s.

SCD salsa and AT are very from real salsa and AT. I can only imagine the same applies to every other dance.

I know. I saw a bit on ITT tonight. It was a series of sacadas and ganchos all obviously faked. But the judges won't notice.

I haven't really liked many AT's on the show and salsa and AT are never very authentic on SCD but the latin and ballroom dances are much more authentic

I wasnst keen on what I saw tonight on ITT but know its early days but not a great fan of Kristina's routines if Im honest

I enjoyed it too. He captured the spirit and it was a surprise because I think we all expected Jake to be a duffer. I liked the tango he did the following week too but even I could see that the authenticity was compromised.

That is disappointing to hear re Janette. I thought salsa was her thing. One would like to think she could choreograph more than one routine in that style. Lets be honest there are ordinary chaps up and down the country choreographing salsas off the cuff every night of the week.

when the pairing show was aired my brother was judging in the USA and when on the phone he asked any promising ones and I said then that I thought Jake had potential as he had loose hips so was not to surprised at the salsa routine.

janette's sytycd audition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=My1zQjqXjkw

The thing i dislike re some dances on the show are all the trots in quickstep which my bro puts down to BTF

That didn't bother me. It is her specialist subject so she might as well bring out her bag of tricks when she is given the salsa. She could well have been asked to repeat the audition choreography to kick the show off with a WOW!

No worries Bendy. I was being a bit thick - its late!

Do you mean grapevines? It has a different name in ballroom I think. Side step back step, side step front step sort of thing to move up the floor rapidly?

I agree with most of the dances mentioned so far (less so Frankie's tango- the music really spoils my enjoyment of a fantastic dance), but for sheer entertainment I've re-watched Alison & Aljaz's foxtrot more times than I care to count.
