Well I must admit they got me into liking gherkins on burgers, but thats about all.
Theres rather a dubious claim there that they got us into eating whenever we liked - surely Wimpy was around in the UK long before McDonalds. |

Why thankfully? You don't know what you're missing, so you can hardly judge.

It is not something I would go mad about, but if I was with someone in town and they wanted to go in, I would go, but most people I go into town with also do not use MD. |

I am not missing much, I doubt much have changed. i remember their burgers was ok, but not really worth having and not that tasty, horrid process cheese, fries too salty and without the salt they would be no taste at all, the only thing I really liked was their apple pie and milkshake.

Good article. McDonalds get a lot of stick but for the price you can't complain. At least you know where the meat has come from unlike some of the cheaper burger and chicken places.

I only had a McDonald's burger for the first time last year and thought it was fine. Good value for £1. I also recently had a banana milkshake for the first time in about 10 years and it was vile; a sickly, luminous yellow, syrupy concoction. They've clearly changed the recipe for that.
going to have a burger for tea, i was looking for some proper burger buns in Tesco, but no, they have not got any. It is a summer thing, how stupid. So got some baps instead. |

How can you have cheaper? i must admit, I would worry about some of the places that have opened up in this city over the last couple of years, they seems to have sprung up like a virus and most of them I have no idea who owns them or where they get their products from. |

They obviously filled a gap in the market to become as sucessful as they have here in the UK and of course worldwide. Yes Wimpy was around long before but the quality would vary store to store, some were really grubby and the service just could not compare with McDonald's.
You can go into any MD's in the UK and you know what you are going to get and the stores are very clean. I might visit a McD outlet once or twice a year if I'm shopping and in a rush sort of situation but for what they are they are a good operation. McDonald's came here and gave us fast food, fast service, good prices and consistant quality. |

I think MD came into the country at the right time and there was very little to compare with it at the time. I do remember when our MD opened and people said it will nto last long and that was over 35 years ago and it is still going, we even got another one. Demolished a good pub for that. Quote:

From what i have heard a lot of the time they can not even get the order right. McDonald's came here and gave us fast food, fast service, good prices and consistant quality. I suppose it is ok food, but i do not understand why some people feel they need a MD. |

Part of the novetly value when McD first opened was queueing up to place and collect your order.
Wimpy was a 'fast food' type burger joint but it had plates & cutlery and table service/order. |

They've changed a great deal, but you've made your mind up by not going for 30 years. How very bizarre.
If I was with someone in town and they wanted to go into MD I would go in, just I do not go into town with anyone who bothered about MD. Oh there is one, but I tend to take her away from there and go elsewhere, as she eats far too much stuff from MD eat other times. |

The vast majority of the time you get what you order but then you'll never know will you.
I may know one day, I may go in there and order something. |

Just going by what I have read, in these and other forums and from what I have heard from people.
I may know one day, I may go in there and order something. A major problem with forums is that members often only post about a company when they want a moan, a bit like you and BT or TalkTalk, Google et al, your list of moans is pretty much endless; minority posts like these are not a true reflection of the (often) millions of happy customers these companies have. Peronally from a fast burger point of view I prefered Wendy's when we lived in the States and I prefer Burger King in the UK but from time to time I'll have a MD. |

So you have no actual experience yourself then. My daughter worked for MD when she was a school girl and later and university and if people did not get what was ordered stiff boll**kings were issued. One of her co workers now runs a branch in South Wales and goes ape if orders are messed up.

Or maybe they do and other people just don't bother to complain. ![]() A joke by the way, which is why I stuck the smily on But it is true that a lot of people just accept things and do not complain. You may find this hard to believe, but I do not normally complain about things I buy, unless they was unusable. In all the years I have been buying my own food I have nevr returned anything because of a problem. I just chuck it out normally. I do complain about services, but when I complain about services, BT was one of the main ones I had a go at a few times. I have never complained in fast food places about the products, but then I don't really use them. Even Spoons, which is not really fast food, I complained once because my beer was warm. I hate warm beer. i know the food in there is not the best, but it is ok. Quote:

I used to like Burger king, not that I been in one that often, maybe about 7 times in my life so far. but the last time I went in one, was when they went back to American ownership and to be honest it was not the same. the burger lack taste, the fries was just that fries, only taste was because of the salt. that was a couple of years back in CardiffThe time before that I went to a BK, they had real chips and the burger was tasty. Just shows what happens when a company is taken over. Maybe Now I am off work for a while, I may have a wander down down with a friend and pop into MD, but the last time I was going to I chickened out and went across the road to another cafe. |

You like cheap old' greasy spoon cafes' Noise, you've said so many time in the past, horses for courses I suppose lol And you do moan a lot, oh yes, you moan and gripe and whine all the time lol.
While you recover from your operation try and maintain a positive mental attitude, it will help you and give the rest of us a break from your normal grindingly depressive negativity

But I also do like the cafes that offer a bit more as well. i am not into posh places,, where they stick a tiny thing int he middle of your plate, charge you a fortune for it and expect it to fill you up. I am also not really into fast food, apart from maybe the odd portion of chips from a chippy. Maybe that is why I have not been in a MD for years. Saying that I bypassed a couple of MD in Cardiff and headed for the Burger king. |
