I wonder how all this will come across in their VT. The main question is would it be shown with as much negativity as they did to Paul although he never actually even changed his song choice.

if Paul did something like this imagine all the backlash and heat he would get and how bad they would have made him look this week. Would Simon make any comments about the change of song choice and criticize their attitude towards it like he did to Paul?

If it isn't picked on by the judges particularly by Simon and complained about and if their VT seems to justify their decision then you know there is clear bias and the show is full of double standards

I saw it on tellymix too, this is why the songlist hasn't been announced yet. It just doesn't seem fair, and I hope someone says something

Unless Louis is just more willing to listen than Mel

Only The Young seem to have a say in what they sing too.

Whereas Mel seemed annoyed that Paul didn't agree with what she'd chosen for him.

Whatever SK sing, I still think there is a chance they will be in the sing off again

Paul would have smashed big band week. He wouldn't have had to change his song. He proved he could sing anything.

Totally agree. a really good solid singer. The judges/administrators/producers, whoever agreed to the song choice changes do not abide by any rules, but expect the contestants to obey their words and actions, which are absolutely ridiculous.

Thus could work really well for them. If they sing a decent enough oh and sing it well the judges (simon) will say it's shows you what their ability is about and that they are the new dark horses/ favourites to win

The thing is Bat Out of Hell wasn't an awful choice for Paul. It did suit his voice.

Paul wanted to sing Dirty Diana last week. He said in his homecoming interview. But had to sing what he was told to

I wish SK were out instead of Paul.

It depends, of course, on whether Stereo Kicks requested a change or whether the producers decided to make an alteration at the last minute.

Paul really started to complain at the wrong time. He should have accepted Bat Out of Hell as it was a song well within his comfort zone, even if he didn't seem to agree. It would have given him some room to maneuver with Don't Stop Me Now and he could have pushed the 'wrong song' route.

I am no longer watching either but I did watch an interview from before the first live show (might have been heatworld or breakfast tv) where Jake, Paul and Andrea all talk about them having a choice and influence on the song they get to sing! Made me mad lol

Wonder when X Factor lost it's integrity? Like, which specific year? Or was it more a gradual thing? There's obvious favoritism, and no doubt the rules are changed on a whim to suit whatever the judges desire.

That tweet can be taken either way.

'We've made a massive decision to change the song' sounds like it was their idea.

But then there's '...after a chat with Louis' - meaning they decided to have a chat with Louis OR Louis came to speak to them. So that could be the producers idea?

We'll decide if they are being stitched up after we see what they've changed to
(or been persuaded to change to)

I initially stopped watching Jedward's year because of joke acts and the manipulation. Only watched this year because of Paul. The silver lining of Paul being out is that I can now switch off and not want to throw something at my tv

Normally, it is a backing track that they sing too. This is big band week. I feel sorry for the 'orchestra' having to change Them doing well will be more of a turnaround achievement that Octoplasm

Nothing wrong with changing the song.

What's wrong is that it will be used to praised them.

That could be the intention behind it, so it will be interesting what the judges will say if they make a dogs dinner of it

Yes absolutely. I understand people's annoyance with the double standards that the X factor team have shown. 'Well done Stero kicks, OTY etc for standing up to your mentor/Louis and being your own artist. Paul - listen to your mentor you are a dementor and suck the life out of everything so lighten up and listen to Mel's song choice.' IT does still annoy me, but this is so transparent it is actually quite laughable. I won't be watching but imagine it will be all 'you did so well having changed your song and only having 24 hours blah blah. It is the Orchestra that I feel sorry for being part of this charade - that is quite a crappy thing to do to an orchestra - matters a lot less when it is a backing track. Why can't the feckers just practice more to get it right?

Isn't it a disadvantage to them? I mean hard enough for one person to polish a song enough in one day to perform, for a group almost impossible.

disadvantage to them being able to sing okay yes - but a ploy to use for sympathy votes is what people are saying... Just like the stage invasion last week
