All the great big band performers/crooners that there have been the likes of Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Al Martino, Bobby Darin, Perry Como, Andy Williams, Matt Monroe, Ray Charles, Bing Crosby, Johnny Mathis, Louis Armstrong and many more. But the best that they can come with to perform are Jesse J, Alicia Keys, Michael Buble, Ricky Martin, Lou Bega and a song from the Jungle Book. Lauren has the best song choice by a mile.
Fleur is going to SLAY SLAY SLAY with that. I'm glad she's going to take a modern song and put a Big Band arrangement on it. She's going to stand out from the rest. I think Ben will actually be in trouble because his voice isn't skilled enough to handle to long belting notes in that song.
Gutted Paul missed this week, he would have really shone.

Sometimes they do sing songs again. Joe sang 'Dance With My Father' at his audition, and again in the live shows.”
I wouldn't even mind her recycling the song if it even remotely resembled the theme, but I have no idea how she or Simon decided that this was the best song they could come up with for Big Band week.
So many brilliant big band songs to choose from and they chose a recently released Jessie J/Nicki Minaj pop/r&b song

I just don't get the logic behind that at all.”
How do you know she won't put a Big Band twist on it, or use the 'big band' to her advantage for the arrangement of the song
Don't really see how it's any different from Jay slowing down an 80s classic and making it sound completely different from the original, or Lauren changing practically every song and slowing it down to make it nothing like what the theme is supposed to be

Really? You don't see the difference?
80's theme = 80's song
Big Band theme = 2014 pop/R&B hit.
I don't care how she changes it up, the song isn't in any way related to the theme at all. Same goes for Stevi.
If Cowell keeps insisting on theme weeks, at least ensure the artists keep within the remit for that theme, otherwise, what's the point?

YOU are the one who decided that Big Band theme means ONLY songs that are already Big Band songs... there is nothing in the rules that says a song can't be changed to fit the theme... if anything that's better than twisting a song that fits the theme into something completely derived away from the theme's intentions.

Might not go down well with the public though, not so much cause it's modern, but it doesn't sound like a big band song, unlike say Candyman which Alexandra sang

I didn't decide on themes at all - Simon did. What's the point in having themes if you can just sing any old song?
Disco theme - let's just sing Shake It Off by Taylor Swift wearing hot pants with a disco ball spinning overhead and a picture of the Bee-Gees on the backround screen.
80's theme - let's just sing My Humps by Fergie wearing shoulder pads and legwarmers with a stern looking chap playing a synthesiser in the backround and a picture of Alison Moyet on the backround screen.

Yeah Fleur could be in trouble because the song is completely not big band.
Nobody is doing felling good this year. I wonder if it's because its being dance to on Strictly.
Same really with Stevie and half of Jay's( how is that goanna work, the songs sound completely different)
Things is whilst everyone is saying Fleur will kill it etc, the general public voting might think the same as a few on here that a) she has already done that and b) it is not in the them? She had better be good or it could hurt her tomorrow. I actually don't mind Fleu as a person or performer but the blatant pimping that is being given her does annoy me no end. I was looking at magazines in the shop today thinking mmm I wonder if there is an interview with Paul now he is out - fat chance it is all Ben, Andrea and Fleur and to a lesser extent Lauren. Gets on my wick and for about 3 weeks the top news story about a contestant was Fleur, Ben or Andrea (usually all three) on the main X Factor site. They couldn't be more blatant if they tried.
Fleur is in trouble simply for the fact her judge's houses song was one of the few they played all the way through with no cute. We've heard her do the whole song before. Why do we need to hear it again?
