I'm no judge of proper AT -I'll leave that to HenryWilliams et al- but I did like the fact that he didn't over-act it to toe-curling, hair-sniffing Jason Donavon dimensions.

I voted for him.

Stand out dance of the series - brilliant

I thought it was really good technically, but there wasn't really a development of the intensity - it was all quite evenly balanced and the 'story' didn't move. Just my thoughts!

I loved it, best dance of the night from my untrained eye

I was really impressed, I think he's almost "on a journey"!

I was more distracted by the PG version of Roxanne. Were they talking about tearing bodies and arresting skin at one point?

(He was great though)

Apparently it's the Moulin Rouge version. I only know this because Kara and Artem danced their ballroom tango to the exact same version of the song when it was movie week.

I really liked it. Great song choice & dance but it can't top Kara & Artem's one for me.

Loved it, dance of the series for me.

Just watching it on iPlayer. Simon says "The thing that I find most difficult is the pivoting".

Me too. After nearly two years of "dancing" AT (inspired by SCD) I cracked the pivot just two weeks ago.

EDIT

But missed the actual dance in IPlayer to make this post.

Loved it, a delightfully unexpected highlight in the show, by far the best dance of the night and Craig's 8 was ludicrous. Should have been 39 and top of the leadboard on their own.

Loved Simon's interpretation. If I was given to getting goosebumps Simon the Gaucho would have given me a rash of them tonight.

No, the Moulin Rouge version keeps the original lyrics, they must not be able to make reference to prostitution at 7pm. Which is fair enough, but some of the substitutions still made me laugh.

How have you managed to get it on iPlayer. Can't see it on the iPlayer app, BBC website or on nowtv

If you watch live BBC in iPlayer you can go back two hours. On television not on radio for some reason.

That's why when taking time off to post here I missed the actual dance.

Best dance of the night for me also, i actually leapt off the sofa and nearly choked on my Kopperberg. He was given such a challenge with the complex footwork, the characterisation in leading Kristina all the way and the pressure of being first to perform the intricate AT, and he nailed it. I wished Craig had given him a 9, it definitely wasn't an 8.....really just one point above Judy's 7's (given by the other 3 judges I appreciate, but still...)

imo Pixie and Simon should have had joint top scores and both were equally dramatic, impressive and memorable.

Outstanding and mesmerising. I am so pleased for him, because he works so hard to get it right.

It wasn't perfect, but it was astounding when you consider the size of the venue and the fact that he didn't have any backing dancers to detract attention from him.

I agree, it did nothing for me either. Still I do admit that I am no dance expert but I do know what I like .... and I didn't like that....

I had a quick search for the AT on YouTube to compare Simon's dance with others and happened on this one.

It is Pasha dancing with Lauren from So You think You Can Dance in the US. I was wondering if Caroline's will be as good as this.

SYTYCD Pasha's AT

Where did they change the lyrics? I can't hear the difference...

I love the At and was not looking forward to Simon last night. Boy, how wrong could I be. It was a maz ing!

Pasha/Lauren's dance was very good, but there did not seem to be much in the way of "interlocking" legs (sorry gouchos?) , but I am not an expert. I use Flavia and Vincent as my benchmark and they always seem to have a lot though.

Who is Lauren? I think the interlocking legs stuff is called ganchos.

Simon's Argentine Tango was truly the stand out performance of the night, which is saying something as most of them seemed to up their game for Blackpool.
Love it to bits.
