Why don't people like Karen?

I've noticed a few comments on here, Twitter and Facebook saying that they dislike Karen. Is it because of the story about her allegedly bullying Ola last year? If so then I think people should realise that the Jordan's aren't exactly whiter than white themselves. James displayed himself to a throughly nasty piece of work on CBB and more recently on Twitter.

I find Karen so inoffensive, I just don't really get it?

I agree, the same with Kevin and Joanne. They seem singled out (tripled out ) for a lot of criticism

No neither do I. I like Karen.

In show business much better to be hated than ignored.

On here? The Jordan fans don't like her because of the snappy comment(/PSYCHO-BULLYING) she reportedly made to Ola, and the Artem fans (who are legion and bonkers) still nurse grievances against Kevin from the GREAT NATALIE VS SUSANNA FAN WARZ of 2013, and Karen is collateral damage (alongside Joanne). She's also loud and partnered with a divisive celebrity (partly due to his background in celebrity, partly because of his demeanour, partly because he's a late-day threat to the forum favourites).

All politics innit.

Beats me. I don't doubt she can be temperamental but I'm sure most of the pros have their moments.

Karen is my favourite current pro. I think she's doing a fine job with Mark.

I love Karen!!!!!

I never believed that b*llsh*t story about her bullying Ola but the Jordan fans hate her because of that

No idea why Joanne and Kevin are hated - maybe because Kevin is engaged to Karen and Jo is his sister.......

I don't pay that much attention really to the pros and their little spats with each other but I do agree with you re Mark. He has come on a treat and I want him to get to the final.

From reading this forum I think there are four reasons (and before I go on I should make clear I've really become a fan of Karen this year, so none of the below apply to me!)

1. Some people are holding a grudge against her for the whole row with Ola thing. Ola is (or was, given the amount of grudge holding that's now going on against her) a popular pro, despite her husband, and a lot of people rushed to take her side when the story leaked, without any clue as to what actually happened. Generally I find it strange how readily a lot of posters on here believe the tabloid press, and as a result are entirely unwilling to give people the benefit of the doubt. It was the same when James Jordan first joined the show - some people still dislike him purely because of what happened with Georgina, ignoring how good he was with other partners in the intervening 8 years!

2. Karen and Nicky's partnership in her first series wasn't particularly popular, and didn't seem to be that strong a partnership, plus a fair few people didn't rate her choreography. I think for some she turned it around with her attitude when she got Dave last year, and for others with her choreography this year, but I think some still remember her as trying too hard in her first year (which in a way was understandable given it was her first year). Plus she was a new pro, the only new pro and replacing Katya, all of which meant a fair few FMs were never going to like her no matter what she did.

3. Some find her exuberance this year after she and Mark get 8s and 9s annoying, which is fair enough - each to their own in terms of personality preferences. I think she got a bit of unfair criticism on Halloween though, when she was basically just keeping in character! Some people prefer understated and lack of emotion, so for those people pros like Karen, Kevin and Janette are always likely to be annoying.

4. Some people don't like Mark, and some of those appear to then lump Karen in with Mark and be equally dismissive of her. Again, each to their own in terms of liking and disliking contestants, but it does infuriate me when people can't manage to separate the pro from the celeb - disliking the partnership is one thing, but it doesn't automatically translate into dislike of the pro!

There may well be other reasons, but those are the ones I pick up from reading the forum.

I can understand her personality not being to everyone's taste, no-one will ever please everyone (and there are pros I haven't taken to that the majority seem to adore, like Iveta). Personally I didn't like her with Nicky, I thought she didn't particularly shine, but she did a fantastic job with Dave last year and their partnership, despite being the 'joke' one, was hugely endearing in my opinion. And I think she's doing a sterling job with Mark this year, and it's the first time I've been really impressed with her choreography.

Yes, she's a bit over-excited at times, but I'd much rather have that than the disinterested vibe I've been getting from some other pros this year, and I find her hilarious and endearing on twitter and in interviews, so she's fast climbing my list of favourite pros (and all despite me still not really liking Kevin)

For me it is the ugly shapes she makes with her legs and flipper feet.

I like her and I like Marks dancing. I'm pretty sure Mystical has given us the complete low-down/analysis on the matter.

1. I don't have pro favourites really but the Jordans wouldn't figure high on my list.
2. I did feel she didn't do as well with Nicky as she could but, given the improvement Mark is making, maybe Nicky just wasn't up to it?
3. She's excitable? I don't mind that.
4. I know nothing about Mark from TOWIE so that doesn't influence me.

Strange thing to say about a dancer, but I just find her ungainly
Also, in the pro dances, I find my eye drawn to her and Kevin because of their exuberance/over dancing.

Don't mind the excitement at the scores - that is their time after all - but I'm not keen on on the OTT antics at being called safe when other couples are still left waiting to hear. Personal choice, but I'd prefer that to be a bit more muted.

Unlike most of the other current pros, Joanne is a former world champion in ballroom. She wasn't really challenged with Scott, but I'd imagine she'd really shine with a more able partner. She was lovely with Scott as well, I can't imagine the apparently fragrant Ola being so lovely with such a hopeless celeb. Likewise last year Karen was lovely with the bloke from the Hairy Bikers and seemed to have a good partnership with him.

Kevin is lovely, yes he's over excitable, but he's been such a great addition to the show. Especially when they were starting to run low on pro's with personalities. I blame that arrogant arse James for fuelling this dislike of the Clifton's, it's obvious from his tweets that he really dislikes Kevin and Karen for whatever reason (although unusually for him he never comes out and actually says it), and therefore Joanne has got lumped in with it due to being part of the same family.

I cannot believe the Jordan's have so many admirers, even after James performance on CBB. He showed his true colours on that show, a bloody horrible nasty piece of work.

I don't think her dancing is up to the same standard as the other pros. As a person she seems lovely

She is the best female pro by a country mile and is quite fit as well. She is carrying mudance Mark through the show.

I'm afraid it's a case of tall poppy syndrome.

That is exactly it for me, in particular the first two points.

She has an American style sense of humour that I also see in American women I know in real life. Laughing too much at the wrong times. Telling stories that aren't funny, to me. Doesn't connect with me I'm afraid.

I like her, I just don't think she's a good dancer. It's similar to Janette, except I do think she's a good dancer but not in ten dance.

I don't dislike her, I just sort of nothing her. The way she gurns and jumps around when she gets through does get on my wick, but it's not just her to be fair! I think her support, patience and positivity with Dave Myers was admirable though: some dancers are poor at covering up their true feelings when they are landed with a turkey.

You really think she's better than Aliona, Natalie and Iveta? I think she's a good Latin dancer because they're more grounded, but she lacks the grace and elegance required for the ballroom. Not to mention her choreography in her first series was absolutely shite, although she's doing a much better job with Mark this year.

Its human nature that some people like certain "types" while others like something different, but unless you know someone personally, I cannot see how anuyone can get a true perspective on someone - the image they project on the screen can be very different from their true personalities, they are basically acting a part.

As for the supposed "bullying" this year it is Ola bullying Steve - good for newspaper sales or something for people of DS to comment on perhaps.

I quite like Karen but I don't like Mark. Loved her partnership with Dave last year, so fun. I think some people think she is a bit OTT but I like her.

I didn't like Karen very much in her first year when she was partnered with the chap from Boyzone, I warmed to her a lot more last year with Dave, but I've gone off her again this year with Mark. She reminds me of an actress in a silent movie, everything is exaggerated.

I must admit I dont think I like her much. Not really sure why I just cant warm to her :/. I think some of the over exhuberance doesnt help. It might have something to do with her partership with Mark, she might come across quite differently if she was partnered with someone like Thom or Simon

I really like Kevin though. Think he seems like such a genuine chap and is quite lovely to Frankie. I also quite like Joanne but found her a little squeeky. I would like to see her next year to see more of her character

I really like Aliona she seems lovely.

I adore Karen. She's so much fun, and she's really chatty with her fans on Twitter, it's nice.

Regarding the 'bullying' of Ola, I seem to remember it was one offhand joke during pro rehearsals when Ola was placed at the back of the group, when she whined "Why do I always get put at the back?!" and Karen replied "Because you're such a terrible dancer, of course!". Then Ola put on her pouty princess face and stormed out. Ola overreacted, Karen is great.
