I'm glad we agree on that point at least.
The assigned song often dictates the choreography. In this case the routine needed to have a different feel to it than the usual Brazilian-style Samba one associates with Pixie's song. Pasha choreographed a cool / elegant / stylish / "chic" Samba - and as you've pointed out, Caroline delivered the characterisation.
By a process of elimination - when you say Caroline failed to nail the routine and you were "amazed" she even made fourth on the leaderboard, you must have identified serious errors in her technique.
