Any except the Philips - Sony and Panasonic are the best two makes, Philips is way down amongst the poorest.

Ok, which of the panasonics (have good personal experience of their tv's)? I can post the main specs if helps?

Have just seen the Samsung UE48H6400 won the What Hifi top award for my price range. Am I wrong in thinking it'll be very similar to another in the series (also has very good reviews!!): Samsung UE48H6475
