I felt his Charleston was quite laboured and some of the lifts were poor. His transition from one move into the next were poor. A 7 at best.

Most were overmarked last night . Same thing happened last year .

Must be the Blackpool air or Blackpool rock, it addles their brains

So were many others.

I thought he danced it fine, but the choreography was really lacking. Bland.

Agreed, he was good but not THAT good. There have been lots of better Charlestons, even a few in the current series.

Agree and I also thought the lifts were laboured. It certainly wasn't as good as Simon's. To me it looked like a lot of charleston steps but didn't hang together.

I think everyone was overmarked except for Simon and Pixie.

I do hope the judges can find other superlatives next week - getting a bit tired of it.

I must disagree. Don't get me wrong, it's not the best Charleston, nor was it the best of the night, the theme was weird and it didn't need a forward roll because it's Strictly, not sodding Tumble! However, for sheer technique, he deserved to outscore some of the others. Same for Sunetra if she hadn't messed it up... both times.

Agreed. It was a bit laboured. Not bad, but certainly not worth a 9. I would have said 8. Can't believe Craig gave him more than Frankie and Simon

It seems Mark often isn't pulled up for loss of technique and other issues.

Everyone's afraid to criticise now because he might burst into tears

He has done some good dances but I think they are pushing the journey angle too much. He is still middle tier in ability.

I thought it was a great dance ........ I loved it!.........

I thought Sunetra was overmarked for going wrong 2 weeks in a row and then get plenty of 8's

I loved it - my favourite dance of the night.

Agreed, the marking in some cases was OTT.

No, he wasn't.

I thought he did well and I enjoyed his dance - overmarked? Maybe but so were some others so it pretty much evened itself out.

Enjoyed it the most last night. Caroline, Pixie and Simon didn't deserve those 10s. Had to laugh in Len's lens when they slowed down Simon's dance. He wasn't doing great footwork at all, Kristina did the flicks!

That was a funny bit

There have been more entertaining Charlestons perhaps but nobody has demonstrated the proper swivel technique as he did last night. Yer gotta laugh ... this forum is full of people moaning that the competition should be about dance technique not entertainment/popularity value and the minute someone gets marks on that basis there's a wave of complaints about overmarking. Make up your minds people!

Everyone was overmarked, it's becoming a joke with tens rendered worthless.

So, yes Mark was overmarked - but the worst was Sunetra for getting hauled around by Brendan looking like a rabbit in the headlights and then scoring 8

To be fair to Sunetra, even she seemed shocked to have scored so highly. In the context of the overall marking last night Mark's scores seemed about right to me.

Sunetra was overmarked too. As much as I like her, that wasn't worth an 8.

They focused on Mark again in Len's lens. Think they are pushing the "it's a year for the men's" angle, even though none of them can touch the girls on ability!

I did too, but there are some in this Forum who dislike Mark and can't wait to pick holes in whatever he does.

I just want him to prove them all wrong and dance his way to the finals.

Not at all in my mind. The choreography wasn't at all as exciting as I would have liked but he performed the dance very well.

Sunetra's dance was way way overmarked - three 8's - now we're really into over marking territory

I loved the dance - best dance of the night for me
