A certain absurd WUM is back with a vengeance; currently the first page has no less than 8 threads started by him.

I have him on ignore, but that doesn't stop his puerile threads showing up in the thread listing pages.

Wanna thread ignore function!

Do what I do, if I don't like the title of a thread, don't go into it.

Oh, I certainly do not ever go into them, but they clog up the front page, pushing more sensible topics off!

You would not want to visit some of the forums I do, if you want sensible, that is.

And no they are not like that, wash out your thoughts young boy.

An ignore thread option would be good -- the threads from said poster are becoming more absurd and desperate

And if we ignore them he bumps them himself

I try to be charitable and assume he has mental health issues

I agree, an ignore threads started by would be a great idea. There were 10 last night on the front page.

I've sent an alert to the Mods - not angry or ranting - asking that the thread starter be reminded that trying to dominate forums is not good behaviour. And s/he does it in other reality forums too - IACGMOOH has a 'newspaper headline' thread this morning. It is deeply irritating.

You may well be right.

I'd like to think that was the reason but in fact I think he's quite a skillful WUM who knows how to frame his participation on the forums within the guidelines so that the mods can't do anything to manage his behaviour.

But I find it very easy to ignore his threads - they're never going to be of value.

I agree with everything said above, but some must find the wum amusing or they would not encourage him/her. I don't really know if we should feel anger or pity......

That's the most infuriating aspect of it - he's quite clever at saying things that will provoke a reaction. That's the main reason why I never touch his threads, once you read his stuff, it's all too easy to be suckered into countering his nonsense.

I also think you shold be able to just blank certain threads in the same way that we can put people on Ignore (such a useful device!).

I want a forum that is not dominated by crass and stupid threads, year after year. When the whole front page is dominated by them the forum loses its attraction for so many of us.

We are hear to discuss all manner of things and have fun? Surely?

I do not want to be shouted at

By advertising your annoyance I suspect you're only encouraging him/her.

I quite like the challenge of finding ways to tolerate WUMs.

Awww leave Terry alone

He's certainly much behaved this year ... because this is nothing compared to last year for example. Just put him on ignore or his threads if he annoys you that much...

This thread is quite mean-spirited .

I don't understand this thread.

Poster makes ON TOPIC threads and gets called out for it?

The long thread titles can be slightly off putting, but at least the poster is making threads/posts about the show - which we then have the choice of whether to participate in that particular discussion or not.

If you don't like a certain discussion, then move along. It really isn't difficult. The poster in question makes on topic threads related to what's go on on the show - we should be glad of the contribution, it opens up more discussions and keeps the place busy instead of being dead.
Why don't some of you come up with your own threads since you clearly don't appreciate the input of other posters? I'm sure you can all think up much more riveting topics to discuss!

Some of you seem to have a problem with eight threads on page one by one poster - but if there's that many threads on page one by one poster, that indicates to me that the poster knows how to open up discussion because clearly YOU are all helping keep those threads on page one with your contributions. They couldn't possibly keep threads running talking to themselves now, could they?

Also, suggesting mental health problems to someone who simply creates a handful of threads... I have no words. In fact, yes, I do, but I'd get banned - no wonder mental health doesn't get taken seriously in this country with posts like that. Despicable.
