Argh so this means the Hat will be there until 2016 at least.

Terrible.

I love it when a soap does a live episode.

The tension, watching for who trips up over their lines, the look of fear in some of the actors eyes, being impressed with certain actors that I wasn't expecting to be impressed with......a live episode adds a different dimension.

Now all Corrie needs to do is come up with an exciting SL for this special episode.

Well SB did a great job with Emmerdale Live so I'm confident the new Corrie Live episode will be good. I wonder what the storylines will be.

Yes I've just read it again and you are correct it says ITV's 60th and not Corries which is what I initially thought

I hope they do. And by that I mean storylines; nothing worse than one storyline dominated by two characters.

The last live episode was quite good; Jane Danson was the star of the show.

The Bill went live only 2 years after they first did to coincide with ITV being 50

Looking forward to it - I wonder what the main storylines will be?

This is terrible news. The useless producer SB will still be in charge by then. Looks like I won't be watching Corrie until 2016 then. Congratulations ITV, keep the soap killer in charge and he'll leave a dying soap.

Maybe e's decided that will give them enough time to get it right?

It's hardly a dying soap, it's pulling in around 8/9 million viewers.

...when ITV started in 1955. ITV is 60, not Corrie as has been pointed out.

I think ED should go live as well. Imagine an ED live episode immediately followed by a Corrie one. Now that would be exciting.

I know I'll be shot down for saying this and I'll get 'but Corrie was live first' thrown back at me but the cynic in me does think they are doing this off the back of EE's Live Week plans.

However, I love live episodes of soap and I would actually be excited about this were it not for the fact SB is going to be in charge.

Didnt SB leave ED not long after their live ep for the 40th Anniversary?

My guess is SB will leave after the live much like he did with Emmerdale.

It is ITV's 60th anniversary not Corrie's.

Technically, ITV *in London* started in 1955. Granada TV didn't start broadcasting until 3rd May 1956 so perhaps we'll be "treated" to another live episode then as well?
