Does it really matter that these dramas' are on during the day?, I never watch them (or very rarely).. during the day as I work most days and don't get home until about 3.30, but what I do is record them on my freeview box so I watch them during the evening when I find there is hardly anything but reality programmes of one sort or another which the tv channels seem to think we only want to watch!.... ....... There is very little that I watch directly as it is being transmitted... So I look forward to watching them during the evening when I am ready to watch and I thik in this day and age there are a lot of people like me that do the same!........ And a real treat!.... when I get in bed at night I get my tablet and watch one of my favourites!... A Place to call Home or Doctor Blake Mysteries on the IPlayer..........

The only thing I would say is 'Perhaps they should advertise the daytime dramas' so that people who are not aware of them can, if they want record them to have a look at and see if they like them or not!'........
It's quite likely that many people would not even give daytime programming a second thought - they would not think of looking at the schedules, never mind expecting to see something interesting to record.

Yes that was why I said about advertising them more mossy! as I am sure that people who work during the day probably don't look at daytime schedules!.. But if as has been said there are different money pots for days and evenings!....(I have no idea about any of that!.) ...... Then that I suppose makes a difference and they wont cross advertise!...... although!, come to think of it!, i'm sure they advertise evening schedules during the day don't they?......

Yes, sorry, I should have added that I agreed with you on that point.

Cross-promotion should not be an issue - as you say they do promote prime-time programming during the daytime.

I wonder if they don't do it because they are still thinking about linear broadcast programming rather than programming that you might record (or even stream) to watch at a time of your choosing.

Exactly! I'm at work during the day and I've no idea what's on during the day, and even though I don't watch anything live, I'm only aware of the prime time dramas as those are the ones advertised the most and get the most attention promo wise.

I almost missed this entire series.
By chance saw the film which was later to become the pilot episode.
That episode had me hooked in wanting to know what was going to happen to the various characters.

Yes...Although I don't work every day in the week i'm not sure how my attention was first brought to it, I should think it was just by chance!, but I do make sure now that I go through all the schedules days and evenings and see what is going to be on!.. It is something we all should be doing I think because even with that, if something is not being advertised I have found that I have missed something good that has been broadcast!.....

There is another Australian series, Miss Fishers's Murder Mysteries that I have, while I have been googleing A Place To Call Home seen good reports of!, we, as far as I know don't get it here in the uk yet, but is one I will be keeping my eyes open for just in case they slide it in without any advertising......

I love Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries! I think it's screened on Alibi and the first series was on Channel 5 or 5 USA.

Ooh was it?, there you go, that's what we have been talking about!. not enough advertising!. I wonder if its because they are Australian that they don't bother advertising them?, because now I think of it!, I do remember them advertising Indian doctor, was it because it was made somewhere here in the uk!,

Anyway what I was going to say was 'I have just been looking on Amazon and they have the dvds; of Miss Fisher on there and some good reviews,' same as yours ravensborough!...... I think I may well order them off there instead of waiting for them to maybe, be televised again here........

The Australians produce some amazing dramas, but I do wonder whether the success of Neighbours and Home and Away in the UK makes channel controllers wary of Australian drama as they might think that the general consensus in this country seems to be that all Australian drama is cheesy, lightweight and soapy.

Miss Fisher is wonderful. Think a younger Miss Marple with sex appeal and a killer wardrobe!

When I grew up in the US the cable movie channels occasionally showed an Australian movie and I loved watching them. I remember seeing Don's Party in the early 80s. The only Australian TV show broadcast in the States back then was the Paul Hogan show. I thought it was a scream. The PBS station in Miami showed it.

I would love to see more Australian TV dramas and comedies, especially contemporary dramas.

We gave Miss Fisher a try but couldn't get on with it, so with stick with this one and Dr. Blake.

(Not Aussie, but we also enjoy Murdoch Mysteries and The Pinkertons)

'Janet King' Season 2 starring Marta has started at Aussie pace.
I would recommend it if you like Marta and or 'Line of Duty'.

Points of View confirm the Beeb have bought the rights to Series 4, only this week, and will be shown in 2017.

Filming just started in Aussie.

Lots of praise for the show BTW.

Great news, thanks for that. Glad that it was also getting the praise that it so rightly deserved.

I started saving episodes and rationing myself to two per week (although I did crack & watch more some weeks). It was a joy to watch some a fabulous series - it had everything just right - storylines, costumes, setting, acting, villainy (if that's a word!) and was not afraid to feature controversial issues.
Nice that it has some well deserved praise on POV, & good news it will return (even if it's a long time to wait).

A Place to call Home UK on Facebook announced that A Place to Call Home is to return in the UK in early 2017. There is a segment about it on Points of View. The link is http://bbc.in/1ZWoMPa

I'm sure there must be a thread on this already, but I'm buggered if I can find it.

I've been binge-watching all 3 seasons over the last 10 days and have to say I've loved it. It has everything, pathos, drama, Aussie humour and of course love stories. What more could anyone ask for?

Yes, there are a number of things posted there which refer to incidents in those last few episodes.

I think you could well be right there ravensborough, But fingers crossed that as the letters have reached pov, maybe the bbc will realise just how popular it is and carry on giving the programme the support it deserves and that we will see many more series made in the future!.... Ooh I hope so.....

I've recommended APTCH to a few of my friends and they've all loved it! I hope the BBC continue to give it the support it so richly deserves - and fingers crossed the Aussies commission it for further series! The show is up for a couple of Logies as well which is excellent for a drama that is not on free to air in Australia.

Same here, but I have watched 32 episodes since the weekend. I have one episode left. A Place To Call Home is a masterpiece. Extremely addictive. Can't believe it was hidden away in the afternoons.

I have also not read the thread back yet (not completely anyway) Shall do later though.
