So my compromise suggestion is not worthy of consideration then.

Daytime viewers should have to make do with old repeats (even if it is Play for Today) rather than good or exciting new dramas.

Anyway......

I'm just happy that it IS available on FTA television, that it is affordable, that its success on the BBC has not meant that future series have priced out the BBC, and that (up till now at least) its success has not attracted the interest of other broadcasters who might force a bidding war or who would nab it for pay-tv.

Always be careful what you wish for, as sometimes the outcome is less than satisfactory.

It's certainly worth your consideration. Dunno about the BBC's, perhaps you should suggest it to them.

Too much "excitement" in the afternoon, is probably not good for some of the viewing demographic.

I offered it as a realistic compromise as part of the discussion on this "discussion board". You don't wish to consider it, well that's fine. And after all, as someone once said "it's only telly".

You sound as is you want me to take all this far more seriously than I ever do.

and "it's only a message board," no one is obliged to "consider or discuss" anything.

I am all up to date with series 4 having watched episode 10.
Number 11 is being transmitted tomorrow & final next Sunday.
www.watch-series.im
This is where I watch.
Just type programme title in their search bar.
Ony two episodes to go? I was at least hoping for a 13 episode run. Nevermind, it's been glorious and I'll miss it when it's no longer on.

Well console yourself that filming of series 5 starts in February 2017.

And, with any luck, a BBC transmission from Feb 2018

Are you joking?? Please tell me you aren't. I had no idea they were planning a further series. There's my Christmas present right there!

Latest news

UPDATED November 20, 2016: After some consideration Seven Network has renewed its internationally acclaimed melodrama series A Place to Call Home for a fifth installment, which is tentatively scheduled to air in 2017. The show which, along with Home and Away, is one of the most popular Australian series abroad, is a domestic hit as well, and its renewal was easily predicted.
https://premieredate.tv/tv-series/22...ease-date.html

Dates refer to Australian broadcasts of course. So if previous broadcast schedules are followed, S5 will air in Australia September 2017, with a (hoped for) BBC broadcast Feb 2018

And just a heads up, S3 will be repeated on BBC Two from Monday 5 December at 3.15pm

I work all day so have to sky + it , really enjoy it too., I don't think it would stand up to BBC prime time, maybe late night on BBC2, only because how many times did you see the red car or green bus shot every time someone went to the city, it wouldn't stand up to those audiences,

Loved the Sullivan's when my children were little used to watch it at lunchtime, Neighbour's when it 1st started at lunchtime viewing.

Leave it where it is there is always ways to watch programme's now a days.

According to my virgin tv guide on monday 5th december, they are showing the series from the very start. Two episodes a day. So those who haven't seen the show at all, will get a chance to check it out

I know the show is australian and is shown at night, but i would love to see a period drama series made by the BBC to air during the day. Something that isn't a crime drama for once. Land Girls and The Indian Doctor only had 5 episodes per series and had short runs, although i didn't like either.

Just watched the last episode of series 4.

It was like they thought this was going to be the end so the plot lines were a bit messy I thought..

However Series 5 is going to skip ahead by 4 years from 1954 to 1958.

FWIW, in the press release announcing the show's renewal, it kind of sounded like they had to think long and hard about going for another series. That leads me to think that maybe the ratings weren't quite as good as they hoped

The ratings for season 4 did see a bit of decline. But then what show these days doesn't see a decline after a few years on the air.

I used to go out of school to my grandma's for dinner (lunch) and the Sullivan's was always on. The theme tune is burned in my brain.

The other Aussie soap I remember best was The Young Doctors, because you know before that all the doctors were old.

I am currently watching season 4 and without giving much away of course, this season is as brilliant as ever and perhaps slightly darker.

That's all i am leaving you with.

Much gnashing of teeth here, waking up to the realisation that my glorious Mondays have now been spoilt because I've finished series 4

I'm in the same position, but at least the next couple of weeks I'll have a daily episode of the new season of The Doctor Blake Mysteries starting this afternoon on BBC1.
