Repeating from the first Episode.......

Mon, Jan 25th 2016 · 15:00-15:45 · BBC2
A Place to Call Home
1/13 - 1, The Prodigal Daughter

Transmitted Daily at 3pm

An absolute Gem of a programme

Made, and based in Australia.

A woman is perched between the harsh legacy of the Second World War and the hope of a new life in her native Australia.

In the first episode, Sarah Adams learns some tragic news, which leads her to decide to return to her home.

Romantic drama set during the 1950s, starring Marta Dusseldorp.

Marta Dusseldorp is brilliant in the leading role.

Well worth watching, on iPlayer if you miss any Episodes.

Thoroughly recommended.

Thanks for that - I came in part way through S2, so I'm pleased that S1 & S2 are being repeated.

As you say s gem of a programme, worthy of a BBC one showing.

Hopefully they are repeating it in time to show Series 3 at the end of the repeat run.

On 25 January 2016 (next Monday) Series one and two will be repeated before series three is shown.
BBC2, 3pm, 25/01/16

...............

I have never seen this. After reading this thread, I shall look forward to watching it
I'm glad they will be repeating 1 and 2 before showing series three. I do enjoy this despite the melodrama.

Is there a changed ending for series two, which was made after a third series was commissioned? Did we see the original or changed ending when it was first broadcast in the UK (December 2014)?

We saw the original ending. Hopefully repeats will show the new ending. I bought the DVD with the new ending but haven't watched it yet. Glad its back. Shame its not primetime.

Love this series. Just pre-ordered Series 3 DVD, which includes a bonus alternative series 2 finale.

Season 3 is brilliant. I found the first half a bit meh but the second half was simply amazing. Hope you enjoy it all.

I read about this in a weekend magazine, and thought it sounds up my street, so have been recording it this week and will start watching on sat, when OH is glued to the footy.

I missed it first time round, but am absolutely loving the first series. I was a fan of Flying Doctors and find this has a similar style. Would be delighted if they showed three series one after the other. I Sky+ it and watch it after an evening coffee. Great show - lots of mysteries to be revealed.

I think that's what's happening ... Showing old one and two and then on to new series 3.

There are twists and turns all the way and you will love it. I just can't understand why the BBC never promoted this prog. Because everyone I've told have watched it and loved it.

Watching this the first time round, I commented on the use of the original contemporary recordings, which I thought enhanced the experience. see my post #47, in which I listed eight recordings that I recognised.
So far in this repeated series, I can't remember hearing many original tracks this time round, if any at all. Certainly not those I mentioned.
Someone tell me I'm wrong.

I'm of the opinion that they were probably removed for copyright reasons.
In the same way the CD of the series when it came out was mostly, "covers," which is a shame.

I missed this series first time round and am enjoying it immensely.

A saucy bedroom scene for daytime TV today, not that I'm complaining,

Catching up on the repeats, it is amazing just what I don't remember from watching it first time around.

Amazing, brilliant, superb quality programme.

After a few amazing episodes to start, I was worried it might run out of steam, but it's quite the opposite, it's just getting better and better.
Great acting, storylines & scenery - it certainly isn't "frothy" and they don't take the easy option with plot twists. Isn't it a change to see slightly older characters and their interactions being the main focus.
I keep saying I will save the recordings and watch it once or twice a week, but I just can't wait - having said that, I already know I won't know what to do with myself when it's over.
Best thing that's been on in ages - would be great evening telly.

Glad you're enjoying it Yorkie. It's miles better than most of the stuff on TV in the evenings.
