I'm wondering why the BBC aren't showing this at "prime time," on BBC2.
Don't want an Australian drama to beat the ratings of something "home grown?" It does deserve a more prominent slot on a rerun though (assuming that the relevant rights that the BBC have would cover it). |

Probably bought by BBC Daytime (i.e out of the Daytime budget) in order to improve Daytime output (especially drama). And I would guess that its success had surprised the BBC (as well as those in Australia from Channel Seven who dumped it).
It does deserve a more prominent slot on a rerun though (assuming that the relevant rights that the BBC have would cover it) When the news was announced that it had been so well received in Australia that they were making a third and fourth series and that the BBC were buying it. I suggested we'd probably get a re-run of the first series at 3.00pm during weekday afternoons, but that the new series would follow on completion at prime time. So obviously no chance of that. |

Tuesday 23rd, The Day of the Wedding.
A really nicely crafted Episode, quite emotional !! I like the fact Gino asked Jack to be his Best Man, so that Jack could stand next to his daughter Anna at the Vows Anna, didn't she look absolutely gorgeous throughout. Sarah (Marta) was stunning too. |

So excited for the new series starting tomorrow. The episode today is the previously unseen ending apparently.

Well ..... I've just watched today's ending and also looked at last years ending which I still had and they're quite different!!
Last years ended with Mrs Bligh going off in the car and George riding off alone with Regina calling after him. Rene was sitting happily on the front porch and Sarah comes home and they smile and kiss. Credits roll. I don't want to spoil it for anyone but today's was MUCH more different and dramatic!! Looking forward to tomorrow and series 3. |

I'm intrigued to find out how all three of them came to be in the same place at once.
Also, as we saw Sarah in an earlier episode being interviewed as a much older woman at Ash Park, presumably George survives and they eventually marry. I have a brother who lives with his family in a town called Camden NSW. His house is only a mile or two from the home used for Ash Park. It's called Camelot. Should you wish to you can get married there these days. |

I've had a wonderful afternoon watching Doctors while enjoying my lunch. I was captivated by the story on "Moving On" which followed, and while watching it i treated myself to a glass of hazelnut milk and a macaroon from the bakery in Woodbridge. Best of all, I caught the last episode of series two of "A Place to Call Home" with the alternative ending that I heard about but I hadn't seen. I'm all set up for Series three which starts tomorrow!
Here's an article about the ending of series 2: http://www.couriermail.com.au/entert...ac375586890e?= |

All the loose ends and a bit of drama avoids us being in an, "and they lived happily ever after" situation and gives a purpose for a third and fourth series. George of course, will survive.
Disappointed that they seem to have tried to save small amounts of money by having very few contemporary recordings accompanying the episodes which added the right sort of feel. Today's close out tune was a cover, (like many others in series 2), of the most recorded tune of the 20th century. Around 1,500 recordings by 670 artists in different languages.. At the time, 1955, there were three versions in the USA top ten, Les Baxter Al Hibbler and Roy Hamilton. In the UK top ten, those by, Al Hibbler, Les Baxter, Jimmy Young and wait for it...... Liberace. I still think Roy Hamilton's version beats them all as it sounds very contemporary. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwvZMXK7qYE |

Also another fan here, but because at work I have sky+ it and have a No Place like Home fest on Saturdays and love it, I know its been around for a few years but love the way they have shown 1-3 straight after each other, also love when anyone goes to the city we get alternate red and white car or the green bus going around the bend.
I like Jack also, was disappointed granny did not save James but good on Sarah, after reading this thread cannot wait until Saturday, so might have a sneaky peak at Mondays later

A great revised ending to the series and well set up for tomorrow. Can't wait.
Can anyone refresh my memory - did George know about Anna's real parenthood? I'm assuming Elizabeth had arranged everything but I don't know if he knows or not. |

I reckon Renee was going to shoot himself, George intervened and got shot in the process, and Regina who was following George picked up the rifle.....

I don't think so, he must have known Caroline was her mother, but not the identity of the father. They are keeping it from him at present as he might see it as another loss and they think he's lost enough..

How did Regina manage to pack so many different outfits into the suitcase with which she arrived at Inverness?

You must be the only person other than me who knows much about Les Baxter!
I even like The Bowell Sisters, from the thirties. No end of videos on YouTube. They still have a wide appeal. This recording is 86 years old, way ahead of their time.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TEEvoyXFPs |
