For me, they made the mistake of going forward in time in series two. We know Sarah becomes "the lady of the house," and Olivia has a daughter, as the reporter who visits Sarah, as I remember it is Olivia's granddaughter, (same actress).

Yes I agree with you there!...... Much too early to have put that in!.... although I think at the time it was going to be dropped after series two wasn't it!, so maybe they had put that in before realising they were going to be able to carry on and had to change the storyline line a but quick because apart from that one scene, I don't think they have gone back to that at all have they?....

Ah, my question has been answered. George did know Anna was Carolyn's child, and now knows who her father is.
I love the change in Elizabeth. Enjoying this so much.

Although we don't know the back story, it is unlikely that George would have been unaware of Anna being Carolyn's child rather than his wife's, as it wasn't the same situation as that of Olivia's.
A good episode, though Gino's homophobia is beginning to irritate.

What puzzled me, was that in some previous episodes, the titles of popular contemporary recordings of the particular year in which the storyline was set, have been used as the title of the episode.

This one was titled; "Somewhere Beyond the Sea." Perhaps someone can explain why.

As far as I can recall though, I didn't hear this tune, maybe I skipped over it when watching the recording.

Good episode, but I'm fast forwarding through Olivia and the baby. There's too much of it. We can guess what the outcome will be regarding his parentage. But it'll take a few episodes.

It was a touching scene. It looked like she was playing and singing live too. If not, it was well directed and edited, matter of fact and not overdone or schmaltzy.

I thought that was a good choice of music, it was written by Romberg and Hammerstein in 1934. We're now in the mid-fifties, but it's the sort of sheet music Elizabeth might have had in her home before the war, in the days when families would gather around a piano and either listen or sing, whilst someone played.
By the mid fifties it was the age of the gramophone record.
The men in the hostel would have been far more familiar with that than anything of the fifties.

We climbed the bridge on our last visit in 2007. It was pouring with rain at the time. My daughter has recently spent 8 months in Sydney. Her family climbed the bridge in temperatures of 40c last month a couple of days before coming home.

Does anyone know where the house is that is shown on the aerial shots they show before scenes at the Swanson's house. I don't know if it is the same one used in filming but it looks massive so must surely be a well known property.

Really missed Fridays episode as well although I had seen that the tennis was on instead so it wasn't a surprise to me!...

The only upside I can see is that the Doctor Blake Mysteries will be on in its place, Although!.. I see it starts at 8/10 so not sure what is happening there?.... are they re-peating the end of the last series to bring us up to date, or did we not go right to the end of the series on the last screening?.....

Doctor Blake was showing repeats and broke off before the end - I think it ran into the Christmas schedules before it finished. The most recent series was on before the repeats … if I recall correctly.

They only started filming S4 last month, so it will probably air in Australia in the Autumn (at the earliest), and January or February here.

Today's edition takes a dark turn and IMO took a little of the sweetness out of the show that I liked.

I wish we could have seen a few more flashbacks of Rene/Sarah. They loved each other so much, and even in his altered state Rene tried to let Sarah go and live her life so in his own damaged way he still loved her very much. It would have been nice to see more of what they had in the past even in just little few second snippets like the dancing in Ep 1 of this run. As well as the snippet with Rene 1.0 getting arrested by the Nazi's in the first series.

It's obviously not going to work out for them with this operation given the synopsis for episode 10. I would have just liked to see a bit more of them to get invested in it more. Or seen flashes of the Rene he was more often to see what it was Sarah fell so wildly in love with. Plus we always knew Sarah becomes Lady of the house because we saw in with Old Sarah.

This has now become like any soap. We're being navigated by the writers into a; "What will happen in the next series?" situation.

Olivia's baby seems to be joined to her at the hip, she's become an annoyance.

Then George and his "marriage of convenience." That was ridiculous.

The Anna and Carlo situation is getting boring.

I had high hopes for this series, but much of it has been a disappointment. The absense of so many of contemporary recordings, so much a feature of the first series, is a sad loss, it add so much to the contemporary feel. But credit to "wardrobe," Reggie's outfits never fail to impress.

We know how it all ends as we've seen it in series two.

I think we must remember it is set in the 50's and the family are upper class so actions would be much different to today.

Olivia would have nothing else to do but look after her baby and take tea.

Anna and Carlo are demonstrating the difference in their class and his pride in being the breadwinner.

I can see that George married Regina as he now believes there is no future for him with Sarah so he might as well concentrate on his political career. Not ridiculous at all.

The music makes no difference to my viewing of the story as I have no idea if the recordings are authentic or not, and there is a lot to learn about how Sarah ends up at Ash Park.

I can't wait to see how the next series will continue but I don't want this series to end. I have been enthralled from start to finish.

I have just found out that Ben Winspear who plays Rene is actually Marta Dusseldorp's (Sarah's) husband in real life.
No wonder her acting was so emotional today.
