Anyone hear Jamella Jamil say "well done mums" in the tone of disappointment after they took the spot and didn't even think to applaud them? **** off agest R1 this is one of the best songs released this year to reach no1

This thread reminds me of the Guardians of the Galaxy "flop" thread.

oh pretty much everyone left at radio 1 now are pricks. and jameela jamil was AWEFUL on t4 - one of their worst! she's a crap presenter and so horribly up herself....so she fits right in tbh.

i think it's utterly hilarious that R1 is STILL refusing to playlist them....how "current" of you to willfully ignore the existence of the current no.1...just because of f***ing age!
it's also quite insultling to assume that A) all TT's fans are middle-aged mums (in my early 20s, and last time i checked i most CERTAINLY wasn't!!) B) they only appeal to women (again not true) and C) that even if they were, this is somehow derogatory???.....so anyone over the age of what, 30 or so, should do the decent thing and just lie still enough for the cobwebs to slowly cover them as they wait for death?...
the mind boggles.

but i don't listen to that station anymore anyway. like i said, they're all pricks. shows on capital, heart, juice and a few others are all much better for mainstream stuff tbh, and aren't too snobby to play some variation in their artists. there are other platforms on the internet for decent indie stuff.

I think Radio 1 not playlisting them has less to do with their age and more to do with what they perceive as how "in" they are.

I mean they could certainly be considered old (by the media's standards) when they released Patience and Greatest day etc. I remember similar talk about people hearing Radio 1 DJs saying these kinds of things back then and I would imagine Robbie rejoining was an incentive for R1 gave them something of a stay of execution in that regard.

Here here!!

I heard that too and it annoyed me - I'm 26 and love TT and this song is brilliant.
