I love the song and think the line-up is good. Been in the news Adele didn't answer the calls, which made me wonder - who else was in mind, who did not end up featuring for whatever reason?

I also heard that Foals and Florence and the Machine had been asked and were grateful for the opportunity, however could not commit as Foals are working on a new album and Florence is out in USA working on her new album and could not get back to the UK when needed.

I think on the Original Band Aid Paul McCartney turned it down. He regretted it later when it became so big.

Fuse ODG wrote a very interesting article, which overall I agree with:

Fiesta Clutch Judder pulled out on medical grounds due to the singer's slipped disc.

Adele heard Bob Bellend Geldof was trying to contact her and immediately smashed her phone to pieces.

I don't think 'disgust' is the right word, but he makes some great points about the lyrics.

I think he was touring at the time and couldn't do it. I seem to remember the B side was an instrumental version with spoken messages by the various artists and Paul McCartney did contribute to this.

Phil Oakey and Sade did snub Band Aid though and Bob Geldof was quick to let the media know about it.

Let's face it, she gets more publicity that way.

Which shows what an odious man Bob Geldof is.

Why does he think he has the right to try to embarrass anyone who turns down his demand they appear on his charity record?

Yeah that's exactly why she turned down the chance to appear on a million selling single.

Yes, but it's not like she was going to profit from that.

How does she profit from this then?

More publicity than if she'd just been one of the participants.

Not Band Aid, but Prince turned down the chance to be on 'USA For Africa's' 'We Are The World'.

He addressed the situation in his song 'Hello'.

I have only heard the two mentioned which were Adele and Lilly Allen. I think the majority of artists said yes to the project.

He did record a song though for the We are the world album.

Probably because he's a megalomaniac control freak and his ego can't handle it if people don't do what he wants them to do.
