Are they the most hateful double act ever or what??
I think they are also to blame for Steves condition, they are always so nasty to him, didnt Liz keep blaming him for a miscarriage she had years back??

Liz is a disgraceful mother, even Steve brought up the fact she makes him feel useless a few months back. When he went to college she made a mockery of him in front of the pub and took pleasure in it (it went beyond "banter"). Makes out Michelle is so pristine and perfect and constantly has her head up Michelle's arse, forgetting of course it was Steve who helped get her the pub again and invited her back, but Michelle keeps getting compliments and sympathy.

And let's not forget he grassed up his own father in order to protect her, yet she still talks to him badly. Even her new boyfriend threatened Steve when he was looking out for Liz, not that she cares of course.

They are really selfish. They can see something is wrong with Steve but aren't being at all understanding. Why aren't they on the internet trying to find some ways of supporting him instead of adding to the pressure? Michelle is really annoying now she's all upset and tearful - she's treated Steve badly many times without the excuse of being depressed.

Spoiler

Liz is as bad, or even worse, for taking Michelle's side over her own son. A child of mine would have to be a real b@stard before I'd side with anyone over them, and Steve is not a real b@stard.

Agree with Sam Gee-I don't get why Michelle is acting all hard done by now, when she's treated Steve appallingly.

Her and Liz together piss me right off.

Their like a couple of witches. They'll be flying on broomsticks next! Poor Steve. No wonder he's so depressed living with those two. Not to mention having to live with Liz's arrogant boyfriend.

Agreed 100% callum.
I was seething when Liz and Me-me-chelle were making fun of Steve for trying to better himself. If it wasn`t for Steve neither her or Liz would have a pot to pee in. And even Michell's party planning would have come to nowt if it wasn`t for Steve backing her up. Shame she didn`t show Steve the same courtesy.
Yet Me-me-chelle had the audacity to complain when Steve bought a car without telling her as he thought they`d enjoy going on drives together. And as usual she belittled him for it. FGS ....it`s Steves money earned from his two businesses he owns. It`s not like they`re married either, or needs her permission. It`s HIS money.
I wish their split was permanent......she doesn`t deserve him.

Michelle is far too pretty for Steve, as Liz was for Jim, maybe she just identifies with the poor girl.

I'm amazed that neither of them can see what is staring them full in the face: that there's something up with Steve. Has he ever been this unreliable with regard to his businesses before? Has he ever been so lacklustre and sad-looking without an obvious cause?

Poor Steve - the last thing he needs is the Harpy Sisters on his back.

They appear to have retconned Liz and Michelle's relationship as Liz couldn't stand her previously.

Both of these women abuse Steve and its not on. I would love him to kick them out of his pub.

I think she is very average looking and overdoes it with make-up.

Haha. My original comment was meant tongue in cheek. Kym Marsh and Bev Callard seem quite vain if not shallow ?

Well, it depends on context. For the last 10 years or so Steve has been the streets loveable good guy. A bit dim, unlucky in love and a bit of a kid at heart, he's the guy who messes up but we love for trying.

We laugh at him, and Michelle and Liz view him the same way we do - but get to do it to his face. It's all in good fun, and the dynamic of the 3 of them is true of millions of men. For the most part Strve is happy with this - how many times has he tried to marry women like his Mother?

As viewers we noticed Steve had become a bit 'samey', and at long last Steve has cottoned on to this too. Michelle and Liz have noticed, and like many people are hoping that he'll just snap out of it. You could argue they think it's just a midlife crisis in their eyes, but their approach to him has changed accordingly.

Personally I blame Peter for making Steve cover for him. It all spiralled from there. Jim then escalated it, and since the doctor pointed out that it could be depression, he's tried to find ways to make himself a bit happier.

Menime123, i see what you are saying but for the last year at least it hasn't been done in a fun way at all!! Ever since he made the mistake of buying the pub for Michelle to run she has been on at him none stop about every little thing!! When he made the even bigger mistake of bringing Liz back to be involved it made things even worse!! The ironic thing is , as someone else has pointed out, Michelle & Liz hated each other at one time yet straight away they ganged up on Steve for his, admittedly diisastrous, attempt at trying to do something nice for Michelle when she was depressed about losing her job with Carla!! Since then it's been relentless!! They ( along with Amy) made him feel useless so he decided go to night school, what did Michelle & Liz do? Instead of encouraging him they ridiculed him throughout the whole thing, he made a friend there, Michelle constantly pecked his head about it cos she was female!! He helped out a mate & kept a confidence, suddenly Michelle was blaming him for Carla's miscarriage & Tina's murder!! I could go on, but there's only so much ridicule & being blamed for everything that a man can take & it's finallly taking it's toll now!! Even now when he's so plainly not himself Liz is still pecking at him & Michelle is whingeing making it all about her!! They're both clueless & he'd be far better off without either!!

I can't stand them! I hate Liz's bitter character, she's been a nightmare since she returned, and her awful pairing with the awful Tony is doing her zero favours! Michelle, well...

I agree notdebbiedingle. There is nothing "fun" about the situation between those three. What about Michelle wanting Steve to have a vasectomy, was that all in good fun?

I do not consider these scenes fun. Why is everything aimed at Steve? If this was real joking around and banter, it would be the other way around with jokes aimed at Michelle and Liz. And looking back on that godawful episode when it was revealed he was going to college, did we really need half an episode dedicated to them constantly putting him down? Who acts like that?

The funny thing is if we had a depressed female character going out her way to avoid returning home and being called useless and pathetic by her male partner over every little thing she does, it would be considered domestic abuse.
