Dances you love regardless of technique

Are there any dances you absolutely adore, even though you can easily see that the technique's not exactly flawless? I think Jake's Salsa was an example of this - the footwork was suspect at best, but it was still a big WOW dance for me. Likewise, Sunetra's Foxtrot and American Smooth were both glorious even with their respective errors.

A less well-know example would be Pamela Anderson's Argentine Tango - her technique is quite frankly pants, but something about the music and her performance really sells it for me.

Any others?

I generally prefer the faster more energetic dances than the more 'pedestrian' ballroom type dances. e.g. The dancers have to go some to make a jive look pants

I love the Samba even though it's rarely technically good. It's just one of those dances and the music that makes me want to join in Also the Jive, Quickstep and Tango. I have dances that I'm not keen on when performed by the celebrities - Charleston, Argentine Tango, Rumba - but I enjoy them when they are performed by the professional partnerships.

John Sargent's Paso. I smile just thinking of it. The way he solemnly marched across the floor, holding his lapel, looking like one of the seven dwarfs while dragging Kristina along as if she were the week's laundry. Loved it.

Others would be in a similar vein. Poor dances in technical terms but that had an certain charm. Judi's dance last weekend would fall into that category. And several older men have produced some very heart-warming, if technically underwhelming waltzes.

He looked like Pooh Bear dragging a honey pot or perhaps Piglet, across the floor.

Exactly that. I laughed until the tears ran but at the same time it was a real 'bless' moment. He looked so cute that I wanted to go and give him a cuddle.

I agree with the FMs who posted:

Michael and Natalie's Jive
Mark and Iveta's Cha Cha Cha

All of Mark and Iveta's party Latin really.

I loved the Simon & Kristina AT / Rumba inspired Showdance last week . It should have got 40.

It was technically pants as an AT though. Never mind. This is show-business.

Another vote for Mark and Iveta's cha cha. Could watch that all day.

Ricky (Groves) and Erin's Paso.

The beginning is more reminiscent of a game of Blind Man's Bluff than a bullfight, as Ricky shuffles around the floor looking for his little white bull ("She's behind you!") but builds nicely with the music (Queen's One Vision, performed with gusto by the house band and singers) and Ricky is 100% committed to the performance, even if the technique defeats him.

Erin choreographs perfectly to both Ricky's limitations and strengths and the synchronised side-by-side movements are clever if not particularly challenging. This routine is probably my most watched of any bar Kara and Artem's Rumba and it never fails to put a smile on my face.

I was surprised that I enjoyed Mark and Iveta's tango - loved the acting from them both and the music.

Louis Smith's Tango. Flavia did such a clever job using his blank expression to maximum effect, and the use of his gymnastic skills suited the theming perfectly.

Also Alison & Aljaz's foxtrot had such hilariously camp story-telling and witty details/facial expressions that it never fails to make me mile.

And Lisa & Robin's Cha Cha. Yes, she went on to become a faintly irritating caricature of herself, but that first dance had genuine joie de vivre.
