I would love Angela Rippon to be a contestant on strictly, she could show off her skills as a dancer. she looks good for her age and has the perfect legs!

I seem to remember from one of the documentaries about Morecombe and Wise that she trained in ballet to quite a high level.

For those of a certain age, ahem, there is the memory of a Morecombe & Wise Xmas Special where as the chorus line spun round doing high kicks, Angela was in the middle and looking every inch a dancer.

Please forgive me for this: But I don't care if she is Vaslav Nijinsky reincarnated in female form. I can't stand her and it would spoil the show for me if she, and that grin of her's, were in the contest. She reminds me of a Latin teacher I had back in the 60's who was like Hitler in knickers

I personally am sick and tired of seeing that clip of Angela dancing on the M&W Christmas Show.

I can remember watching it at the time and yes, it had a real shock element to it then. I guess the equivalent today would be BBC Political reporter, Nick Robinson suddenly starting to salsa in the middle of a serious politcal story. I can dream

My problem with Angela is, although technically she can dance, she isn't very feminine. It's like watching a PE teacher going through the moves. She's a bit butch

Sorry, Ange

Maybe Strictly can enable her to embrace her feminine side, although butch women have their admirers, too.

She was in the newsreader children in need special a couple of years ago, but just as a cameo rather than as a contestant. Susannah Reid was on that special as well before she did the main series.

Didn't she get voted out first in Dancing On Ice a few years ago?

Yes, she was first out on Dancing On Ice as well, after appearing as a guest judge the year before. That was quite a disappointing format for DOI that year, with four couples leaving after dancing just one routine each!

Yes she did, and made her disgust at the result very visible. Sorry can't like her myself, she just comes across as so false.

Wasnt she a presenter on the original Come Dancing years ago?

Yes she was, but Terry Wogan was by far the worst. It was the general ghastly presenting of CD that made it the butt of so many jokes.

I wouldn't want her on Strictly. I don't like older contestants and she's 70. I know she's fit and a good TV presenter, I just don't like to see oldies on this show. She'd be another Felicity Kendal, showing off her suppleness by bending backwards and doing the splits at every opportunity !! Too annoying by half.

Oh well each to their own.

I like to see older contestants, their joy at learning and the patience afforded them by their professional partners, is something I genuinely enjoy.

Cheri Lungi was sublime and she's an older woman. Fiona Fullerton also gorgeous and danced well too.

It would be a dull show, (for me anyway) if it was just stage school or young pop star participants.

p.s. regarding Angela Rippon........cannot abide the woman, so it's a resounding NO from me.
