'Emelie Sande - What I Did For Love,' is played as Leela is shown frying bacon in the Lomax kitchenette, with Peri coming in in her school uniform looking through the cupboards for some cereal. When she finds some shoved away, Leela gives her a disapproving look before giving her a finger movement to pull her in, before she pulls up her tie. "Capable of doing that myself," she is heard groaning before taking a bowl out. Joe is sat on the sofa downstairs when Lindsey rushes in and opens one side of the curtains to let some daylight in, before turning to face him causing him to just put his head down while Lindsey opens up the other side before going and helplessly sitting beside him. She then hears the post come through and so she tries to subtly walk out before rushing to collect it, seeing one addressed to her from the hospital. The paternity results. Myra, Nana and John Paul are all sat in the hospital waiting room staring into space, panning onto Myras face in particular. The final shot is of Esther handing a customer a takeaway coffee before picking up a poster from a stack put there on the counter highlighting details of entering the upcoming Chester fun run, which she goes and puts in her handbag in the backroom.
"What's the new cooking equipment all about?" Cameron questions when seeing it drying after being washed. "I'm surprised you payed any attention to it. I just needed something to occupy myself, and the stuff we had before was too bland... bland isn't my thing. Mum loved the slick black look so I, I didn't want to change it straight away," she reminisces, causing Cameron to gulp guiltily. "And I didn't want to be sitting around watching Loose Women because that Janet Street Porters mannerisms do my head in, stuffing my face and giving myself high cholesterol in the process and just generally feeling sorry for myself isn't going to help. I shouldn't giving Ziggy and that so called 'sister' of mine the satisfaction, but the firefighting shifts don't even help get it out of my mind," she offloads, carrying her plate into the kitchen and slamming it into the sink. "I doubt Tegan was aiming to hurt you... but Ziggy on the other hand," he jealously wonders. "I don't care, they are both as bad as each other. Being stuck in a lift for a few hours wouldn't instigate for normal people to have sex, especially with their sisters partner and vice versa. And her pregnancy may have been a false alarm but that isn't the point, they still hurt me... and they didn't think how I'd feel in the equation," she sighs, leaning back on the kitchen side. Patrick is in his suit ready to head of to work as Nico takes the milk for Minnie out of the microwave for him, and as he tries to feed her he spills some of it down himself. "No! This is Swiss!" Patrick aggressively shouts as Nico pulls a face and rapidly takes Minnie out of his hands, before beginning to feed her. "Sienna was exactly the same Nico, I'm hardly inexperienced when it comes to the care of baby. It's just been a while that's all," Patrick claims, taking her back before demanding she goes to get ready for school. "Mum said I can have the day off, and besides it'll give me a bigger chance to spend a bit of time with Minnie. As weird as I see it she is my auntie!" Nico insists. "You may not see it as important but Year 10 is a big year, you'll still have the odd GCSE's at the end of the school year, and your attendance isn't exactly much to be desired as it is. I want you back tomorrow, and make sure Sienna doesn't leave you alone with her," he demands before putting Minnie in her pram, picking up his briefcase and waltzing out. "Whatever you say," she cheekily utters to herself with a smirk.
It cuts to the Roscoe Maintenance Garage with Joe sat in the office in silence, as Lindsey suddenly rushes in with his lunch while pushing Joe Junior in his pram. "Sorry for dampening the mood, but I still can't believe Freddie has confessed to trying to kill Mercedes while questioning. I just can't get my head around any of it," he sighs. "I wish you wouldn't torture yourself like that, but I know it's a lot to get around - for all the family... have, have you told Sandy?" she asks as he just simply nods, before explaining she's trying to organise some time of work at her new hospital to come down for support. "It must be difficult for her too, thinking all sorts of stuff that it's her fault, that she brought him up wrong," Lindsey continues to sigh, before asking why he isn't working on the car out in the main room. "Only the tyres that need fitting on, everything else is done and the owner isn't coming to collect it until the end of the day. Anyway, that's the last thing on my mind. I understand she's still in a bad way but I need answers." "Joe I've already told you! Mercedes was blackmailing Freddie into buying her share of the Loft!" she replies loudly. "But you said you have no idea why! And it's bad enough that the two of you kept the blackmailing from me. It must have been over something pretty concrete for him to want to get rid of her like that," he says, his voice forming an embedded form of disgust towards the end. "I, I would have told you if I had known," Lindsey then lies, desperate for him not to find out about the kiss. "I know you would have, your too honest for your own good. Earlier I looked in and Jason was just laid on his bed, staring into space. He told me how he didn't understand how Fred could do something like that, and my heart just broke for him. If only he knew all the stuff he had been involved in beforehand," he sighs, before shoving some paperwork into the top draw. Lindsey then silently walks round the side of the desk, leans over and hugs him tightly, rubbing his back and promising they'll get through it together. "You need to know though, I'm gonna organise a visiting order application as soon as possible to see him, and get to the bottom of it," Joe insists while pulling away slightly from the hug, causing Lindsey to fall into an anxious facial expression.
"Esther love... I thought you were tied down at the coffee shop for the whole day?" Jack questions as she flounces through the doorway, slipping into a bar stool. "I've got people covering, and I just wanted to show Darren and Nancy something," she utters, rummaging through her handbag before taking out the fun run leaflet along with a couple of sponsor sheets and passing it to Jack, a long pause processing as he scans through it. "Why them in particular? Just because me and Frankie are of a certain age doesn't mean we can't do our bit for charitable funds!" he insists as Esther forces a bit of a chuckle on, saying she just thought if she got the pair of them to sign up it would bring them closer together. "Thoughtful idea, you all over love. It's worth a try, it'd be a large shame to see their marriage finally go down the drain." "They're made of tough stuff, the pair of them. And a bit of competition and lively spirit will hopefully put them back on track a bit," she claims, as Jack says he'll make sure he convinces them to sign up. It pans round to show Joe and Lindsey sat in a confined booth in The Dog, as Lindsey mentions it's not like Joe to barely touch his beer. "Well come on Linds look at us. A few days after my brothers gone to prison for attempted murder and we're sat in here, it just isn't right. I need to organise a visiting order and then get answers because there's so many gaps and I'm not waiting for Mercedes to regain consciousness to get the answers I want," he says with aggression in his voice. Darren then comes over to collect Lindseys empty glass, before sighing and apologising for the Freddie situation. "I wish I could say it's all fine mate," Joe replies with his head down. "I, I know I don't have as much involvement with you lot as I ought to, but I am here. Eh I have been for almost twenty years now, so I doubt I'll be going anywhere in a hurry," he utters with a misplaced laugh, before patting Joe on the back and walking away slowly while glancing back with worry. "J-Joe it's understandable you want to see him and get stuff out of him, b-but you know, maybe waiting a few more days might be better? You're all over the place at this moment in time and I, I just think we should get JJ registered and just be there for the rest of the family first. You know?" she suggests, as he just shrugs. "I'll try and forget about it, but just for today. Anyway we better head back, he's only been born a week and were already springing him on Robbie without warning. After all the attempts and heart break we should be making everything about him," he insists as Lindsey agrees, before adding on Dr. Grey wants her for some sort of meeting regarding her recent return to work and he nods making nothing of it, but asks her to try and get home as soon as possible.
"I'm back... and badder than ever!" Lockie exclaims as he bursts through the Lomax front door. "And still camper than a row of tents!" Leela jokes after standing in surprise for a moment, before bouncing back onto the sofa. Cameron goes and gives him a quick manly hug, before asking where his tan is. "Mate we were born and bred in a Scottish burgh, I could live it up in Marbella for months on end and still come back as pale as I was before. Just the way of the world," he exclaims. "I still can't believe you went in the first place, never mind stay there for the duration without your bride," Leela shouts up. "Porsche wasn't enjoying herself, and she refused to miss the funeral so she booked an early flight. She wanted me to go back with her but I didn't see the point in wasting even more money, and she didn't need me. She had all her family around her," he says, dropping his suitcases at the side of the dining table. "Well like I said, would have been easier not to go," Leela repeats before Lockie mimics her groaning, before saying he better get of to the hospital. "You make sure you give my love to Myra. That woman's really been put through the wringer, but yeah you better. Porsche will have you dangling over the edge of The Loft balcony if she realises you didn't head to the hospital straight away," Cameron pitches in as Lockie sarcastically thanks him, before going over and pretending to repeatedly kiss Leela all over her face to annoy her. "Cya sweetheart," he teases before leaving, Leela rolling her eyes and telling Cameron to get Lockies leash back out. "Everytime that door goes I think it's for us... with news on our Mercy. Mum I don't think I can handle this, being cursed with all of this. What if it's even more severe than we thought?" Myra considers, before putting her head into her hands and trying to stop herself from crying. "Mum you've always told us how Mercy came out of you kicking and screaming, ready to take on the world, and despite a string of affairs behind her she's always stayed true to that statement. She isn't going to let scum like Freddie Roscoe get her down... I know she can get out of this," John Paul positively says but Myra remains with her head down, Nana looking at John Paul as to say she is struggling to believe that. A doctor then comes in and up to them, Myra then springing her head up. "Doc... please put us out of our misery, what's my daughters current condition? I NEED to know," she begs. "I'm pleased to inform you that your daughter has pulled through the critical 24 hour period, and that her head injury has already began to heal. It hasn't caused any form of internal injury from our intense amount of scans and so it may take a couple of weeks but she'll make a full recovery," he informs them, all of them now owning massive grins as Myra doesn't know who to hug first. "I, I can't believe it! You doctors really don't get enough credit, I can't thank you enough!" Myra exclaims, over the moon, tightly hugging John Paul. "Carms watching over us, I, I just know it," Myra whispers over his shoulder, tightly closing her eyes with tears forming again.
Robbie is stood over JJ's freshly crafted cot, watching him as he drifts of to sleep. "I suppose it's a good job really, that you'll probably never know much about your uncle Freddie. You know people can put on fronts, fronts that are so powerful that everybody around them falls for it, and that's exactly what he did. I knew he wasn't exactly the cleanest, he even got me to do the odd job but that soon ended. Perhaps a stint in prison will doing him a bit of good, but it's still hard to understand. From what we knew Freddie never did anything to that McQueen bird... but like I said, fronts," he drones on where it reveals Rick has been listening in. "This is the first I've heard of these 'jobs', they better not have been anything big," Rick sternly says, Robbie turning around in surprise before lying it wasn't. "The first sign of madness it is son," Rick says, completely flipping the subject as Robbie realises what he means, before pointing at JJ. "He's a basin of gravy!" Rick smirks, before patting him on the back and saying he cannot believe how strong he's being considering the circumstances. "Well someone has to be. Jasons been shut up since the arrest, even Holly thinks it. He hasn't even been bothered in taking it out on his boxing punchbag in the garage, it's like he's just... given up... and come on dad, does that rhyming slang even exist?!" he says. "Just as long as he's still preparing for his first proper fight in a few weeks. A few days off won't hurt, eh. And yeah, my dad always used to call it me!" Rick replies. Celine and Nana are sat in the waiting room alone. "I can't stay around much longer Nana, I hope that's alright and everything. Mum expects dinner to be done by the time she gets back and then it's straight to my job interview here. Just need to dig out my CV documents," she explains with a smile. "Our Reenie expects you to make her dinner for her? What do you mean when she gets back? It's bad I know, but we barely stay in contact anymore," Nana replies. "Nana she's... she's always down at the pub. She's followed the same routine for months now, but me and Porsche, were used to it. We have to be used to it," she sighs, as Nana leans forward trying to look in her granddaughters face, as Celine feels around asking if she has a spot. "Well you flaming well shouldn't be used to it. I never knew it was that bad. She's always liked a drink I know that, I remember all the times she dropped our Porsche around so she could go out with her mates who ended up dropping her like hot coal. Celine love you need to snap her out of it," Nana demands but Celine just shrugs, saying she's tried before but it just doesn't work, causing Nana to lean back while looking away with concern written all over her face.
"Getting these sponsors is gonna be a walk in the park," Darren says, cutting to him and Nancy stood at opposite ends of the bar in the pub. "Darren it's only a fun run, not exactly a marathon. And after the day I've had at the school your lucky you managed to convince me to sign up," she says, a hand loosely on her hip. "Oh come on hunny pie get into the sprit, I know it's already set in stone... me destroying your time and all but still, don't give up!" he childishly exclaims, pulling at her cheek in a patronising manner after his sentence as she pushes him away, saying his name disapprovingly. Lindsey is sat in the prison visiting room, fiddling with her fingernails as prisoners begin to scatter around, Freddie being one of the last. His glum face quickly changes when seeing her, causing Lindsey to look to her side as a mother and son begin talking. "Been waiting for this," Freddie says causing Lindsey to bite her tongue and shake her head. "You know I swore to myself that when you went to prison the lies would stop, but here I am... making up some pathetic excuse that I had a meeting with Dr. Grey! How Joe didn't realise it is a miracle," she furiously offloads. "He left school with a BTEC PE grade Linds, that's pretty much it. Hardly the brightest tool in the box," she smirks as Lindsey warns him not to. "H-have the paternity results come through?" he then asks more seriously as she nods, folding her hands under her sweatshirt and confessing it's Joes, causing Freddie to shake his head in disappointment and force out a congratulations. "Look Joes on the warpath. Wanting to know the reasoning behind Mercedes' blackmail. He can't find out about the kiss, under any circumstance. Freddie he wants to come and see you as soon as possible, you can't tell him about it," she pleads. "It's funny. You come in here shouting the odds off and then your pleading with me to keep a secret. But that's just you, and I love you too much to tear everything apart, even though it wouldn't affect me either way. Me being here means I wouldn't have to see it all unfold," he says, as if he's thinking about all the trouble he could cause. "So you swear you won't say anything then?" she questions, skating over his statement of love towards her as he gently says he won't again. "I hate to think about what this has done to them all though... do-does mum know?" he asks as Lindsey just nods again, a feeling of guilt then waving over him even more.
