I think EastEnders bosses are attempting to kick the memory of Kirkwood out and make Newman's stint on the show old news.

DTC has done away with all things to do with Kirkwood and Newman. He even got Abi to run over Tramp ( a Newman character) .

When DTC arrived he had the choice of either incorporating the Kirkwood and Newman characters into his vision and clean them up a bit or get rid completely. He chose to get rid of Poppy along with Kirsty, Carl, AJ, Ava and Sam. Dexter's now also met the mini scythe. There's no point revisiting any of these characters as the effort would be greater than the cause.

There are no Newman characters left, except for Tina who was re-written by DTC. Cora, Lola and Les are the only Kirkwood characters, except Les was reintroduced by DTC and is mainly his creation now. Cora, I think is and should be off our screens by April (the end of her current contract) and Lola, well...

I'm currently forming a theory as to how Lola might be Lucy's killer. There were pictures found in the subMitchell flat and we still don't know the reason why. Lola has been seen very little of since the night she died. Maybe Billy was also involved somehow...

I can see Lola being arrested and sent down therefore putting a firm end to all things to do with Kirkwood and Newman.

Cindy is also essentially a Newman creation in her current form, though there's evidence to suggest DTC had been working at / with Eastenders for some time before the announcement was made that he'd taken over, so she's possibly got his influence anyway.

Also in the "there's a killer amongst them" trailer Lola and Tina are seen in the square. Tina is handing something to Lola. Something we mustn't forget.

I agree that there has been a whitewash of a decisions made between 2010 and 2013. There's very few remnants left.

Lola is my best bet for Lucy's killer but I don't think that has anything to do with her being a Kirkwood character. I reckon DTC quite likes her.

What part of the trailer was this?

Lucy and Peter recasts were also part of the Kirkwood and Newman era!

Interesting theory.

Danny Dyer said he had been in negotiating to join the cast in June of 2013 was that before or after DTC joining, as I know he said something about Carl White character being offered to him.

I know that DTC created Mick Carter's character and pitched it to him over a meal in a restaurant along with another producer.

Lexi Mitchell is also a Kirkwood/Newman character and so was the old Bobby!

May I ask why you suspect Lola? Its always been a theory Ive been drawn to but it seems to have little online support.

Id hate to lose Lola

I felt like this also at first, but if you actually think about it, it'll be better for the show in the long run.

Oh in what way?Im not saying your wrong but Im geniunely curious as I think Danielle Harold has proved to be a steady reliable and valuable addition to the cast as Lola.

I think Lola's great. Cora's a lost cause now her family has left the prison that is Walford.

Because it would put a firm end to all things Kirkwood, which isn't a bad thing I don't think.

Had Lola not been ruled out, I'd have been thinking this. The mothers of Mitchell babies have a history of being conveniently disposed of so that the fathers can get custody.

I think it's definitely one of the 14 or however many it is.
