Does anyone else think that the Cora and Ava storyline needs revisited
There is so man questions left unanswered, I think it needs a better conclusion. I would love if Ava could have some involvement in Dexter's exit, I was always wanting that one on one episode between the pair, both brilliant actresses.
The storyline wasn't done justice, and needs to be finished IMO Thoughts? |

It was a completely wasted story. The concept was good. Cora getting pregnant in 1960's and having to give her kid away. Ava being a success as a Headmistress. Brought up middle class. She suddenly ended up living on run down council estate with gangs. Her son can't string a sentence together. It ended up a total mess. Sorry for Cora as it would have fixed her more in show.

Cora still has a place in EE despite Dexter & Stan's departures.
I wouldn't be surprised if she leaves in the not too distant future. It would be a shame if she leaves but what's keeping her in the Square?

If Ava was a different kind of character, maybe. Otherwise, no.

No, sorry. I do agree it was a wasted storyline in many ways but the time is past. What exactly is there to be readdressed now? Cora and Ava had made peace by the time Ava left, Neither Tanya or Rainie are around for Ava to get to know. The only thing is her father really but what exactly would introducing him achieve?

Unfortunately I doubt this to be the case

No. The happy ever after was never going to happen for Ava and Cora. There were too many obstacles. Ava and Cora have very different worldviews, Cora is an alcoholic and Dexter pressured Ava into letting Cora into her life before she was ready. Not all adoption reunions work and I'm glad Eastenders showed one that didn't. This is more realistic than Sonia getting her adopted daughter back and Shirley having both her abandoned sons in her life.

I agree with Vaslav. As I said on another thread, she is still Lauren and Abi's Gran so has a place in Branning gatherings. She works in the Launderette so can come into contact with any characters they want her to. She has a friendship with Patrick. She is (or was) a kind of surrogate Gran to Lola and Lexi. She is a colleague and kind of friend of Dot's. She might bond with shirley over being forced to give up her first born after the Mick reveal. She has a rivalry with Babe, that can continue and how will she deal with Sylvie?
There are a lot of ways to integrate her without Stan or Dexter. |

I don't think it needs revisiting - an Ava return would be awful, it just needed to be better when it did happen. It's a shame that two of Cora's kids are amazing characters, Tanya and Raine, and then the other one who actually had a huge story line centered around the family was a bore.

Yes, they should have stuck with the original premise. Ava being middle class, educated and happy with her adoptive family and really not wanting the intrusion of her birth family but being curious none the less. The mixed race aspect of an illegitimate baby being born in the 60s and taken from the mother was also very interesting but they threw it away by changing the type of person Ava was - living in a squat when Dexter was a baby - really?

Cora's secret daughter, I believe was a flop and a failed storyline, on Newmans part. I found it completely unnecessary.
It's not a story that ever needs revisiting and DTC was right to axe the Hartmans. |

It could have been a great storyline but LN ruined it like she did with everything else. Its much too late for anything. Maybe in a few years if they recast her she can come in and they can recast Sam and Dexter with actors that can act, but for now, she probably won't be mentioned anymore.

Not in a few years it hasn't. Say 5 or 6 years maybe is Ann Mitchell is still around, they could recast her.

Dexter's leaving, and Cora will be next methinks. What has she really done in the past year? Ann's probably pretty bored, I imagine, by now. |
