Whats wrong with the BT youview settings?
I have had many DTT/ Freeview boxes and TV's over the years and they all worked fine when I went into the settings and changed to the wide screen and those channels which are made and shown in the old box shape on screen.
But even with the settings for wide screen the BT youview box still shows the old box shaped images even with my Freeview HD TV settings as normal in wide screen?? Is down to software or settings need to be set narrow on the youview box ? I have tested the channels by looking on other boxes and TV's they all give me wide screen on the same named channels yet BT youview still shows narrow box? |

Old 4:3 programs should be shown 'in a box' - any other shape and you are distorting the picture.
But the youview box is changing the way you view even though you set it as wide.....why ????? |

It's because those boxes are stretching and distorting a 4:3 picture to 16:9, which makes the picture look awful, programmes made in 4:3 should be shown in 4:3, that's why they don't stretch them on the HD channels.
It's set to wide so it knows you have a widescreen tv so widescreen can be shown correctly, not so it'll stretch everything to widescreen. |
