Fully agree with you both. I had a terible 2 years with Three and had the same problems like yours plus more. Glad i'm back with O2 now!

You're the first person I've met who's happier on O2 than Three.

Three is way way better than o2

Shame about their latest stunt with their customers to get them off old tariffs.

"Three is way better than O2" - care to clarify?

I agree but not entirely.

Think I've misled slightly when I said volte what I actually meant was ios8 wifi calling. I've used the 3 in touch app with very mixed results and if I'm honest more bad than good

I went on a mini tour of the uk last year and I had a three sim then. I kept my wife on O2 and that allowed me to compare coverage, 3G coverage mainly and speeds. Three were vastly superior for 3G coverage, even very rural locations where I didn't even have 2g on O2.

Speeds were also vastly superior, much quicker In all cases afaik.

Call quality was also superior

Prices and value for money was also much better even though we were on legacy O2 iPhone sim only £20 unlimited data plans. What's the point of unlimited data that's slow in comparison.

In all respects three was and is better than O2 In my opinion. To be fair to O2 I've tried to stay balanced but u can't think of anything where O2 is better. Maybe the fact they never meddled with my contract.

O2's 2G's coverage beats 3's 3G coverage in my experience (and objectively as it's a fact that it covers a larger area), 3G is a lot worse though as you said.

I would agree 3 are much better than o2. I was with o2 for years. Coverage and costumer service were crap. I, ve have no complaints with 3 , been with them for 12 months

I go to Denmark, Norway and Ireland quite a bit. All three at home countries. No roaming costs or daily fees for low cost usage etc. Can't beat it.

Yep well happy, i'm not being lied to about mast repairs for the duration of my contract like i was with Three, no mast congestion where i work and 1 bar where i live.

I dont have to moan at Three every month, sometimes every week, about the lack of performance that i was paying for.

I admit O2's 3G is poor but i get great speeds with their 4G and the coverage is good.

I've had no complaints with O2 since i've been back with them....so far.

Not in my case it's not.

No network is fantastic everywhere i know that, it just so happens 02 is good for me in the places i need it to be.

Another pointless statement.

shame they don't include Spain, which is where i reckon the majority of Three customers would want to use it.

i wonder if that's the reason why Spain isn't included, as it would end up costing them too much to provide it.
Gigabit

No, it's because there is no Three network in Spain.

so there's a Three network in Macau?
surely it's just countries that have set up a roaming agreement with.

Yes, Three have a network in Macau. Three's owned by Hutchison Whampoa which is a far eastern company listed in Hong Kong

America is the exception, they probably make a loss in that market.

However, there is a T-Mobile network in America, so maybe they have a special deal as Deutsche Telekom is part of MBNL as (half of) EE and Three is the other half.

They're probably negotiating reciprocal arrangements so those networks can use Three UK for reduced or free roaming. Rather than paying shed loads of money.

Let's be honest, the roaming charges are tiny anyway.

are they?
if, for example, i went to Spain for 7 days... what are the roaming charges for data?
not that tiny i would bet.

For the operator I meant.

well if we are being technical, you simply said the roaming charges were tiny.
you didn't specifically say whether you were talking about operator or end-user charges. you only stated that after i posed the question of "how tiny".

the cost between operators is totally irrelevant when it comes to the end-user, which we all are.
