This is a question that has bugged for me for years, as the show is filmed in Australia, do the Australian public know about the show, do they watch it? And is it on their tv stations?

The set is used internationally.

It probably is a major employer in the area.

It used to be screened on UKTV (a foxtel channel)...but was screened a few months after the UK air date. It wasn't widely watched, and the vast majority of Australians wouldn't know who the 'celebrities' were. The first series I saw had Jason Donovan in it (I didn't know who anyone else was). Survivor was a relatively big program, and was screened on commercial TV. However, as I've been over here for 4 years now, I have no idea if it is still shown.

Very rarely can ITV get internationally known stars like they used to. Now they rely on has-beens, wannabes and the ever willing members on the reality circuit.

The show wouldn't rouse much interest outside these shores.

Of course they do, it's just round the corner from a Tesco supermarket and they try and look through the compound fence to spot 'the jungle' and 'z lebs'

I agree. ITV scrape the barrel in order to get their own shows in the limelight. So we have to put up with TOWIE crap. I suppose we are lucky ITV doesnt produce Dr Who otherwise we would have daleks and cybermen doing trials.
