We buy one family lasagna per month. It only costs £3 and there's no way I could make one from scratch for that price, so yeah, it's cheap and obviously not all that healthy. I do make a side of veg to go with it though.

Some Mr. Mash with a tin of meatballs and gravy poured over top... I've not had it in years but there's something comforting about it. Cheap, carb-y foods tend to be comfort foods, unfortunately.

Nuked American cheese on squishy white bread dunked in Campbell's soup either chicken noodle or tomato. If I'm feeling crummy why bother with quality?

Probably the cheapest and nastiest would be instant noodles with chopped up mini pepperami and a squirt of ketchp.
That sounds quite interesting - though I would probably swap the ketchup for some HP or BBQ sauce for a more savoury taste.

There was an episode of The Royle Family in which Denise mentioned that she'd made Dairylea on toast for Dave's dinner. I thought that sounded lovely, and it is.

I used to love pasta with Campbells meatballs. I'm having a bit of a lust after it now....... it's been at least 10 years.

Talking of pasta I quite like that tinned ravioli......

I've got Sainsbury own brand in at the moment which I'll have for my tea with some corned beef........(I'm using up all my tinned stuff before Christmas then I'll have a re-stock !)

I like many cheapie QUICK & Tasty Comfort foods
one of them is like ** a pretendy roast / Sunday dinner **

Fill A BIG bowl with
Lots of frozen potato croquettes & lots of frozen peas
[ and maybe any other veggies you feel like having
such as Brussel sprouts Carrots Parsnips Turnip ........ etc ]

ALL microwaved together in the bowl >>>>>
then topped >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> with a cup of pimped up Instant Gravy

I would ALSO MIX IN to the dry granules
some very finely diced onion
as well as mint sauce and horseradish sauce & pepper
Then add some boiling water - to mix -
then put in the microwave for about 1-2 minutes >>> to heat and thicken up even more

:::::::::::: Another tasty quickie option is :::::::::::::
The bowl of frozen potato croquettes
topped with a can of baked beans & pepper
with a chunk of some corned beef maybe
ALL heated up in the microwave with maybe some cheese on the top

Last night I had a couple of tinned hamburgers in gravy with chop sauce and a side of mushy peas drenched in malt vinegar with a nice buttered slice of bread on the side.

Can't believe no-one has mentioned fried eggs sarnies on bog standard white bread! It's obligatory to have the yolk so runny that it ruins whatever you're wearing

Tomato sauce or salad cream sandwiches

I've been doing something similar.
A choc biscuit, like a blue ribband / caramel wafer, wrapped in a mini tortilla.

The cheapest possible instant noodles with chilli sauce added.

Ikea meatballs - a massive bag cost me a couple of pounds and has done many meals now and is still half full

Pack of M&S 'wise buys' chipolata sausages (£1)..... i.e. a whole pack
Fry and then grate cheap cheddar on the top

... serve with kingsmill-type sliced bread smothered in marge....

... and a dollop of mango chutney on the side.... which must be the Co-op own brand one as it is so sweet and not in any way authentically Indian.

This is shameful

i used to count pot noodles as one of my guilty pleasures...happily i have outgrown that particular affliction

there is a cheese pie i make using pasta and sauce, instant mash, cottage cheese and quark...odd combo but it is nice!! its a slimming world recipe i found on youtube

Things like beans on toast are cheap and easy but are there any that you yourself consider cheap and nasty but is a guilty pleasure?

An example for me would be lasagna and chips.
I make a decent lasagna myself and there some nice ones available in the Finest/Extra special ranges but for this meal it requires a cheapo one. One that costs less than £1. I think ALDI does one for 89p, possibly even 49p.

It doesn't contain much meat at all and is mostly soggy pasta and a lot of thin sauce.

I nuke that and serve it with smartprice frying chips and a takeaway salad (shredded iceberg, sliced onions and pickled red cabbage out of a jar).

Anything else you would consider cheap & nasty as it's using cheap / value ingredients but makes a nice meal?

I would never class beans on toast as 'cheap and nasty'...cheap definitely but with wholegrain toast and low fat spread, it makes for quite a tasty and nutritious snack!!

Current cheap guilty pleasure is a bit of Iceland's kebab meat on a pita with sauerkraut, onion, sriracha and mayo. So good.

This thread's making me so jealous because I can't do gratuitous carbohydrate (got to stay very low carb to control my blood sugar).

I have to use flax seed bread but a couple of slices toasted and topped with warmed and squished corned beef then a fried egg is one of my can't-be-bothered-to-cook favourites.
