Samsung TV & SKY remote arrow buttons

Hi

I had to change my sky remote and cannot for the life of me find the code on the remote to be able to toggle up and down the input sources after pressing the help button. My previous remote could do with it so I know it is possible.

Remote version 9
Samsung led series 8000

It is helps I don't think it was a Samsung but another manufacturer

Thanks in advance

you don't use the arrow buttons to move up and down the sources.
you just keeping pressing "help" to scroll thru them.

that's what it's like for my samsung tv.

press tv then help to bring up the source menu, then press help again to scroll thru the options.

yes I know that is the way with the Samsung codes but I know it's is possible to use the arrows key as I had it working previously. I am not sure that it's a samsung code, it may have been another manufacture which is why I turned to the forum

There's a whole set of numbers here http://www.satelliteonline.co.uk/sky_remote_codes.htm that you could try.

Try using the "blinkback" function to read out the code of the original remote.

I would suggest experimenting with the new remote and the known code you are using until you get the hang of it. The button push timings are fairly critical and you don't want to lose the code on your original.

1. Press the TV button on the Sky remote

2. Hold down Select and the Red buttons together for approximately two seconds, until the Red LED on the Sky remote blinks twice.

3. Key in 990 on the remote.

4. Wait until the Red LED blinks twice, then key 1 (no LED response)

5. Key in 2 on the numeric keypad and count the number of times the Red LED blinks. The number of blinks will indicate the first digit of the code

(Note that a 0 is represented by no blinks where you press the key)

6. Input 3 on the numeric keypad and count the blinks to identify the second digit of the code.

7. Input 4 on the numeric keypad and count the blinks to identify the third digit of the code.

8. Write it down and keep it safely.

Thanks for that as it is very interesting.

The blink back code came back as 1340, but unfortunately the cursor keys didn't do the same on the other remote with regards to the TV source

The only thing that I can think of is that one of the remotes are revision 8 and the other is a revision 9

I have had the same problem on a Panasonic tv.
My old rev9f remote was looking a bit tired with worn out buttons so I bought a like for like replacement. Both remotes use the 0664 code though the arrow buttons on the old remote could be used to navigate around the Panasonic tv's option and input source menus, though the with the new remote none of the arrow buttons work on the actual tv.

I use the arrow keys quite a lot, so I found a tutorial on how to open and repair a Sky remote. Then I just opened up both remotes and swapped the circuit board over from the old remote into the new one and it works fine. So obviously there's been some change!
