Edwina (and i really don't like her by the way, hate her politics and personal ethics) was not persecuting or bullying her, she merely took issue with a statement that could easily be interpreted as selfish and uncaring. And i really hated Kendra's "grown woman attacking a young girl, you should be ashamed of yourself" spiel. Kendra is an adult, not a child, she doesn't deserve special treatment for being younger than other camp mates. What wpuld the reaction have been if Edwina had said "don't answer me back, respect your elders".”

It kind of makes her life philosophy worse if she's describing herself as a young girl and you consider that Hugh Hefner was an old man doing stuff with an even younger girl.

I am afraid I am not liking Kendra and that outburst just confirmed it. Edwina didn't come out of it smelling of roses either

Btw if she is married why was she giving the impression she would go after Jake?

She knows she has nothing else to trade on away from that kind of life except for selling herself as a 'reality star' gleaned from her experience as a Hefner-whore - no education, no real life skills and no credibility. Such a 'career' for her in an industry that is obsessed with youth and physical perfection is very short-lived and she knows it. She is where she is because she blew Hugh Hefner in return for a roof over her head and traded on it. She cannot survive away from being what she is and that is one of the many women in the American 'glamour' industry who depend on and are used by powerful and controlling American men.

So there is no "glamour" model industry in England, I take it?

Perhaps the rest thought that Edwina was in the wrong or is that not worth considering.

Semillion was referring to the 'industry' that makes you famous for sleeping with someone famous. It's more the 'kiss'n'tell' industry in the UK; but to my knowledge there are no women in the UK who are nearly as famous or as celebrated as Kendra and her 'girl next door' cohorts are simply for sleeping with someone old and wealthy, no.

NO, that's your opinion of what Kendra was doing, not mine. Have you decided to go along with the words that Edwina Currie put into her mouth for her?

She didn't actually get to finish what she was going to say because Edwina wouldn't allow her. She was trying to share with the group her private views about how she lives and how her mind works which isn't an easy thing for everyone to do believe it or not, would you do that on TV? Kendra was exposing herself by being honest and expecting a little bit of friendship in return.

We certainly are not going to get an insight into the way that 'honest' Edwina Currie's mind truly works as she isn't about to be that generous anytime soon.

Actually when I was talking about people speaking their mind it was in relation too the way think people in Britain in general tend to have a mustn't grumble type response to things even when it's not good for them. I wasn't saying people should go round being obnoxious.
When something is trying to provoke you or be passively aggressive or offensive, in Ireland. most Irish people don't take it lying down either, do they? I'm an Irish person too, so tell me am i wrong?

I think the rest were simply trying to defuse the situation and Kendra was the only one who needed defusing, so that's why they went to her.

It's hostility born out of a deep seated and bitter resentment because of the way the British people feel compelled to live out their own lives in the pecking order of the class system, knowing they would have to kiss people like Edwina's ass if she clicked her fingers.

It's terribly sad but terribly terribly true.”

Good, I'll take it as a compliment.

That said, Kendra is not exactly the brightest apple in the barrell. She's adopted California speak about journeys and self worth etc. And her way of arguing is rather childish. Edwina, knowing that, should have stayed out of the "discussion." She's a bit of a pompous ass.

In relation to the argument, I have no love for Edwina and I am 100% sure she started it deliberately but the way Kendra spoke to her was unacceptable and she showed herself up for the nasty piece of work she really is.”

Presumably they take a wage for their 'services' so in effect, it's prostitution.

Bit in bold - I listened to what was coming out of Kendra's mouth myself and it was absolute self-justifying nonsense and the kind of dangerous nonsense that makes impressionable young girls think that selling themselves to make a buck is somehow a desirable way to make your living.

I would have reacted similarly to Edwina, to be honest. Imagine having to listen to that nonsense day in, day out?

So everyone who is very stupid and says some dangerously stupid things, from the 'fame' platform should be allowed to say those dangerously stupid things, because they're very stupid? As Edwina would say, count me out.

I was also curious as to what Kendra would say about that whole Hefner period. The situation in the Playboy Mansion is a puzzle to most people. But no, Ms. Ethics had to step into the discussion. Kendra mouthed off in retaliation in the only rather ineffective way she knows.

Dangerous? I think not.

Let Kendra continue to make stupid remarks. Her fans aren't going to care, and the rest of us know the remarks are stupid. Nothing is going to change on that score simply because Edwina made her declaration from the mountain.

I think so. What about all the pre-teen, over-sexualized girls watching this and being told that Kendra's a role model? Someone needs to contradict that BS.

Do you really think these fans are going to listen to Edwina?

Look at all the followers the K's have in spite of adult approbation. Sad, but true.

Kendra is a very low level celeb, doubt if too many young girls are breathlessly following her every move.

But the adult approbation shouldn't stop. How the hell are we ever going to counter that nonsense if people don't contradict it?

That's what it looks like to me, anyway.

I despair of that kind of "celebrity" lifestyle where money and fame is worth more to these people than having some self respect.

Kendra spoke about a sense of "self" but she clearly has little or no self-esteem or she would not have reacted as quickly and/or aggressively to Edwina's wind-up as she did.

The sad thing is that as a mother that is the message she is passing down to the next generation - fame and money is the main goal in life no matter what the personal cost.

There are rich and famous celebrities who visit the Playboy Mansion, or at least used to, who should be criticized far more than Kendra for encouraging the activities that went on there. She was too young and naive and vulnerable, no family, no money, no education. The celebs should have known better; they participated in prostitution as well. Kendra's adult life has been pretty sane, all things considered.

This is the issue here, WHY did Edwina step in and disrupt the conversation> It was no accident she deliberately wanted to cut short what Kendra was saying as she knew it was going to be very honest and revealing and could possibly cause the public to look more favourably at Kendra. Maybe Kendra had something of value to say about the tawdry world of the Playboy Mansion. It is supposed to be completely filthy and even pest infested, Maybe we would have got a bit of reality from her? Maybe she could have admitted that she felt revolted by it or disgusted by the people there? Maybe there is a small chance some girls watching would be enlightened as to the sleeziness all around us and in the media. Who knows>

What is evident is that Currie woman didn't want her to speak or to endear herself to the public in any way.

I totally agree with you. Men and/or women who have gone there for whatever reason, be it drugs, titillation or casual sex are all perpetrating the abuse that is going on there and should be ashamed of themselves.

If it burned to the ground tomorrow (obviously with no-one getting hurt) it would be no loss.

You could say that I am a prude, but I don't think I am. I have no problem with sex between consenting adults or with woman (or men) making the most out of their sexuality. What I hate is the objectification of women as sexual playmates for randy old men who happen to be wealthy. This has seeped into all area of life now. Female music artists parade themselves like porn stars in music videos and think that they are in charge of their lives. It is very sad to see.

You cold see how threatened Kendra was by Nadia when she first came into camp - a young, vibrant, natural lovely woman. In Kendra's world it is all about being "hot". I think she is a very insecure individual and it showed in her over the top reaction to Edwina.
