I'm quite happy to agree with somebody even if I can't stand them. The problem is people see Edwina Currie, Tory adulteress or Kendra Yankee slag and that clouds their opinion on this debacle.”

Edwina will always be remembered in my eyes as the politician who brought forward the legislation for the equal consent for gay men. Who cares who she slept with - her work changed millions of lives for the better.

Edwina has always prostituted herself for fame and money. It makes me laugh that she is taking the high ground with Kendra for being a reality star when she herself is saying it on a Reality TV Programme! Not the first she has been on either, Wife Swap, Come Dine With Me and Hell's Kitchen as well.

As for having an affair - yes millions do, but most don't do it with the Prime Minister and then write about it in their book for what.............oh yes fame and money! Edwina was not a great MP and her main claim to fame in politics was almost bringing the British egg industry to its knees because of one of her stupid comments.

Strange that she now feels she can take the moral high ground!

It wasn't a stupid comment thought was it and neither did Edwina make a stupid comment tonight. Kendra exploded and showed herself to be foul mouthed and aggressive in addition to being unable to challenge herself and bring back food for her campmates.

I didn't mind her at first but she's become a liability in a camp where there's no option but to rely on others.

She has made a living out of stupid comments, eggs, old people, northern people and people with aids - all have been victims of her stupid and unfounded comments. http://news.bbc.co.uk/onthisday/hi/d...00/2519451.stm

Whilst I fully, totally and utterly agree with her and you....

American are brought up with a constitutional right to think loads of nutty things and nobody dares to question it.

There are many in California with spouting this motivational claptrap and like the American dream itself - IT DOESN'T WORK! All this ME ME ME can be the best I can be never ever takes into consideration that there are others on the planet and everyone can't have everything all their way as it clashes with what others want/need/demand.

Their stupid mantra of yes you can be the best ever doesn't work as if everyone was the best at something, there would be no secondary people to do all the dirty work on minimum wage.

It's the same for Conservatism here where the mantra is to better yourself at any cost and no matter who you shit on to get there - If everyone did that, then the wages of top jobs would fall as everyone could do them and you would still have no one to serve you in Asda.

It's the massive flaw in their argument that they never address: So in this case she had a screaming fit to cover up the fact that it's all airy fairy bollocks!

I really don't think we paid her to have an affair, she had a job which she was paid for, the affair was something completely different and we have no right to judge. People have affairs in all walks of life for al kinds of reasons. I think the moral laxity in Kendra's case is Hugh Hefner who obviously thinks its okay to take an 18 year old and stick her in a den of women and occasionally screw her. But we're not allowed to say anything because he has money.

Yes it was a bit of that but a lot more to do with the fact that she is well rehearsed in reality TV and was simply ensuring that she dominated the air time. Unfortunately the US contestants on UK reality shows seem to do this all the time .........they bore me to death.

Kendra lost it. The swearing and loss of credibility looked bad. But I expect many think that was a winning strategy., shame as I quite liked her.

agree I think I would have said the same as Edwina if I had been forced to listen to her droning on about "you should always put yourself first" what utter rubbish - and shouting shut the f*** up etc. is just such a childish way to respond. Nadia is younger than her but much more mature than Kendra

It s hard not to judge when she was part of a Government that put 'family values' above all else. Plus the problem for me is not so much the affair, but the fact that she decided it was OK to reveal it to the world in a book she had written. Thereby profiting from the affair she had whilst in public office. As for Hugh Hefner, I will never really understand that set up!

She said "you should never live your life for other people" - she didn't mean she wouldn't consider her family, she meant she wouldn't be influenced by what other people thought of what she does.

Edwina just butted in in a personal and judgemental way, arguing like a politician, trying to trip her up by taking the phrase literally and not trying to understand what Kendra was actually saying.

Edwina talks about not being selfish, but thought nothing of nicking Kendra's socks earler and didn't offer to return them even when it was pointed out to her that they only had two pairs of socks. Actions speak louder than words.

Yes i agree. Edwina was quite aggressive and didn't let it go even after Nadia and Mel both expressed in different terms what Kendra had actually meant and Kendra said they were right but if you make big statements like that, you have to be prepared to justify them if somebody challenges you, not just fly off the handle and behave as though you are being victimized - let alone the language used: always a sign that somebody has lost the debate.

Also, unless i misheard, Edwina did say sorry, that she hadn't intended to upset her reasonably quickly (can't believe i'm defending Edwina Currie) but Kendra was in to much of a temper to accept it. Throwing the word heartless about when that was effectively Currie's point - that sometimes you have to put others welfare and feelings before your own when making life decisions.

I do agree with this - Edwina took the literal meaning of the words rather than the spirit of them (at least the spirit as clarified by Nadia and Mel) but Kendra still should have responded more calmly. She showed herself up by her reaction to it.

How do you know what she meant? she didn't say that - also have you got any evidence she nicked her socks?

I knew what she meant because in the context of the other things she was saying it was obvious what she meant, to me (and Mel and Nadia)

Well, she admitted to having three pairs and then said nothing when the others said they were only issued with 2.

ha not really evidence then -she could have someone else's and they've nicked Kendra's or as Dec said he has them or she was issued with 3 pairs by mistake - people get issued wrong PPE all the time where I work

Kendra lost all credibility when she resorted to using foul language in an aggressive manner towards Edwinda whether Edwina was in the right or not.

Kendra showed herself up to be a very nasty, horrible person after her foul mouthed tirade.

In my opinion she went completely over the top and most certainly could have handled the situation in a completely different manner.

This may be the first and last time I will ever say this, but Edwina had a point. Her manner was obnoxious, though. Then again, Kendra was equally obnoxious in a different way. I think they both shot themselves in the foot - more so Kendra, because nobody expects Edwina Currie to be agreeable anyway. Now that the CIA task is over, Edwina is doing what she's been employed to do.

Where did Kendra ever say that she didn't take other people into consideration? The jist of the conversation was that she wouldn't allow others to influence her decisions. She was talking about people who might judge her (such as the people who think she shouldn't have lived/slept with Hugh Hefner, or shouldn't make a living from Reality TV) she wasn't talking about close family members. It was Edwina who twisted what she said to make her appear selfish.

Edit - also, where were Edwina's husband and kids and Norma Major when she was sleeping with John Major? Was she thinking about her family when she made that decision? She's a hypocrite.

BIB How pathetic!

Of course Currie was right. It was hardly a difficult issue to judge (Kendra's own country is the most noted for its emphasis on the crucial importance of the concept of civic virtue, for goodness sake!). What was pathetic was Sykes and a couple of others eagerly playing the game of taking sides for camera effect. If they'd just quietly and tactfully let Kendra know she was being silly, she might have learnt something, but now they've indulged her over that absurd tantrum she'll do it again and again.

I agree, I felt let down by Mel and others taking sides with Kendra, it was very disappointing.

That's not what she was doing though. She was merely making a point of disagreeing with Kendra's idea that you should only do things for yourself.

In fact even if I disagreed with Edwina I think I'd be disappointed with a politician on there if they didn't show some conviction with their points of view whether they're right or wrong.
