She did not lie about her affair with John Major. Nobody ever asked her. I assume that you can do your job and have an affair.

So what if she had an affair many years ago? Thousands of other people (some in very high places) have them all the time, and they hardly ever impinge on either party's work performance. No it's not fair on their partners, but an affair is between two consenting adults, and Edwina's was so long ng ago it hardly matters now. sir John has clearly been forgiven by his wife, and Edwina is happily married to her second husband.

And that egg scandal?? Edwina got pilloried FOR TELLING THE TRUTH!!! When she made her statement about the salmonella in eggs, she was telling the truth- most of the eggs being produced were infected with salmonella, and she probably her words saved a lot of vulnerable people from eating the infected eggs.

And she hasn't been a politician for donkeys years either - she was voted out not long after the eggs nonsense and became a novelist.

Leave her past in the past and take her at face value - a highly entertaining camp mate who worked her socks off to get everyone their care packages with the CIA, is seen working away and getting on with everyone.... Well - nearly everyone! She cares about the welfare and morale of the camp, and had she got the trial, she would have done her damnedest to get the stars - Kendra will bring hardly any back and everyone will suffer!

Give me team player Edwina any day over selfish Kendra!

She's way more entertaining than the vapid self absorbed Kendra,

So do I but I can think of ways of telling them without hurling abuse.

Edwina was definitely right in the point she was making, Kendra was repeating a shallow self-help line without thinking through what it really meant. It's a pretty selfish life philosophy to not live for others at all.

That said, Edwina probably could have handled the debate less antagonistically than she did.

And I feel let down that so many people on here are supporting Edwina over this - she completely got the wrong end of the stick, misinterpreted/twisted what Kendra was saying and Kendra didn't retaliate until Edwina kept repeating "You're a Mother" (as though she might be a bad mother for not considering her children)

was it the wrong end of the stick? I read it like Edwina - I think Kendra back pedalled when she realised what she had so vehemently said. I think she's probably a very selfish (and conniving) person.

Edwina was right about Kendra's approach, but the only thing I would say is that Edwina could have been a bit more diplomatic in disagreeing with Kendra's point of view. She said to Knedra 'did you say you do everything for yourself, well then count me out.' Instead she could have said 'but what about your children as you are a Mother.'

That's what I think she meant and I thought Edwina responded very strangely.”

True, this is what she was implying but Edwina who was supposedly sleeping couldn't wait to jump in with both feet and try to be morally superior. This is from the woman who slept with our Prime Minster a married man, while he was in office, and had no regard for the wife Norma Major .

I just knew Edwina couldn't stand Kendra from the beginning and was looking for any excuse to have a go . The way she speaks anyway in that patronising tone would get anyones back up .

I bet if any of the others had asked Kendra to clarify what she meant she would only be too happy to do so .

I'm not an Edwina fan but Kendra does talk utter dribble so I can totally see why she had to say something.
Kendra has to justify her life choices and her current role of "Reality Star". At the best she is meaningless and shallow but at the worst she could really influence young people into believing that what she did is a legitimate career choice!
For that reason I support Edwina for getting involved. I too am a mother and I can never imagine putting myself before my children. I don't believe that is a normal stance to take and I would have serious concerns about any mother who said that.
In fact if that is how you see life then why bother to have children!!
Perhaps her husband does all the nurturing and protecting? Who knows
I was also totally shocked by the way she spoke to Edwina and when she was urged to apologise/sort it out for the sake of the camp she questioned who should be the first to do this?
Seriously! Whatever she felt about Edwina's comments it was her who should go and make peace because of the way she reacted.

No - I didnt - but I'm judging her on what I have seen of her on THIS show!

Since she arrived, Edwina has worked tirelessly to ensure that the camp mates are as comfortable as possible, driving the CIA to success so all of them got their care packages, and had she been chosen for the trial, she would have done her damnedest to get as many stars as possible for them so they had decent food to eat.

Kendra whines and whimpers on the trials and does absolutely nothing for the others at all. There was nothing difficult about the catacombs of doom, just grabbing stars out of geeky boxes, and she managed 2. Interestingly, when she was in the joint task with Jimmy, with a witness from camp to her antics, she managed the task no trouble.

Edwina has the well being and comfort of the whole gang in mind - Kendra as she displayed so clearly in her speech has only herself in hers. And whatever we may say about her long ago affair, remember John Major (who wasn't actually PM back then!) was equally culpable as Edwina - it takes two to tango!.

And whatever else she may be, Edwina seems to be a good mother. Her 2 daughters clearly adore her and are deeply loved by their mother in return, and they seem to be a very happy family. Edwina and her grandchild on that Big Star Little Star programme were just so besotted with each other.

This. She seems to need to self justify with a lot of ill considered clap trap which isn't a happy or secure person.
If she sets herself up as some kind if guru/role model then why not simply discuss rather than react like that. It was rather sinister the way she went from grinning to harridan without pause.
Edwina did apologise to her but she kept on yelling and cussing.

I have mentioned this on another blog, so apologise to those who have read it. Do you think Edwina's comment on Kendra being 'a mother' really made her feel quilty? Has she put herself before her children? Or has the statement at least made her reflect on her own position, with a six month old baby and a 4 year old. They have been left (so is reported) while she is in the jungle, with her estranged husband, who evidently is suffering from serious depression, or has been recently.

Excellent post and it tells the truth of it.

Yet people on here are scandalised because ( with no proof I might add ) that Edwina has "nicked" a pair of Kendra's socks and because she was a"tory" ( politics having absolutely sod all to this business with Kendra ).

You could really not make it up.

It is a shame that the "third" pair that Edwina seemed to have had was not placed in Kendra's mouth - might have stopped here swearing so much.

She's hell bent on her career. Honestly, how many mothers could actually leave two children especially a 6 month old baby for so long? She meant what she said before her aggressive outburst, put yourself first. She couldn't cope with being challenged, so that indicates she's not at all so self assured and was trying to justify her self centered decision.

Some people might say that earning a decent living is putting your children first. I don't think people have any right to decide whether she's a good mother or not, unless they have absolute proof that she is not.

I agree I wonder how many people would turn down £100k for four weeks. IMO people are kidding themselves on if they say they would turn it down.
