They are good points, we should all be collectively asking ourselves why we are so easily offended and faint hearted I think..
I don't swear myself in day to day life but it's something that I do resort to during a time of intense stress or difficulty, especially while driving lol, so i can understand anyone else who resorts to swearing at similar times, it's not what you would xhoose to do, the swearing is symbolic of the heightened emotion/distress you are feeling in a bad moment and should be understood as such surely?

Not complaining is NOT a good thing, it's like saying you are prepared to put up with anything, even ill treatment and bullying and you won't react. Governments love people to be like this, it makes it easier for them to treat us as cattle. And that's we have food that is of a lower quality than you will buy in Germany or elsewhere from the same brand names.

Kendra was just letting it rip instead of worrying about the consequences and fair play to her for just being herself. Of course people will view people who get angry and loose control as having lost the argument but it takes time to learn how to keep your head and retaliate calmly and with wisdom and Kendra hasn't reached that stage yet maybe. Or maybe she was just seriously pissed off.

I meant more in terms of Edwina knew she was emotional after getting the pictures of her children the day before, was feeling down with regards to the trials, a bit wound up from the morning and the sock situation. With all that mixed together, I think Edwina knew she'd get a reaction like that from Kendra. I have no problem with people disagreeing with others or entering into a debate, but Edwina didn't want a debate about it. She wanted it to be known that she thought Kendra was wrong, and that was that. At least that's how I saw it.

First bit in bold - no it shouldn't; as I always tell my lot, swearing is simply a sign of a lack of a vocabulary and the dearth of a decent argument.

Second bit in bold - by that logic, you should have no issue whatsoever with Edwina disagreeing with Kendra's ridiculous expostulation on how pimping yourself out to an octogenarian and living off the legend of same makes her a role model. People should certainly speak up - and be commended for doing so - when such absolutely laughable and dangerous (to susceptible young minds) drivel is flowing.

Your response to my post is out of context. I was responding to the way the posters reply came across as intolerant of the views of others, 'we' should all really remember that whatever we type here is opinion and just because we say something is so doesn't mean it is

I haven't seen anyone saying that Kendra should have allowed herself to be silenced. In fact, all of the people who have taken the side of EC have said that they don't like her (and I am sure are amazed that they would agree with her in any situation!)

What I have seen is people being shocked by Kendra's anger and her screaming tantrum (which is what it was in essence) and the attitude she displayed to someone else. Not only that, no-one has mentioned yet the fact that the other campmates, being in such close proximity, were affected by this. Having witnessed something similar once, i felt incredibly uncomfortable during it, and just wanted to go and hide until it was over. Unfortunately, that is not something the campmates could do. They were caught in the middle (literally, in some cases) and a few of them actually said afterwards how awful it was. It's incredibly upsetting when someone behaves like that; she should have at least apologised to the others even if she didn't feel that Edwina deserved an apology.

She acted like a spoilt child and as Edwina said (gee, I can't believe I'm agreeing with her, either as I never liked her as a politician!) if you have to resort to screaming inanities (punctuated by very few actual words!) then you've lost the argument. It's absolutely true.

What she SHOULD have done was to debate the point properly. She should have sat back and thought about it, or better still, if she couldn't, merely got up and walked away. But instead she chose to behave like a spoilt 10 year old. A rude, obnoxious 10 year old.

I'm afraid I lost all respect for Kendra when she told Ant and Dec in the last trial that she was happy with 2 stars because, in essence, she had reached her limit and the camp wouldn't care, because she had 'tried her best'. Well, no, Kendra, you didn't 'try' your best. You barely tried and then you had a horribly cavalier attitude toward feeding your fellow campmates! Yet you were perfectly happy to eat a meal when first Mel then Jake got lots of stars because they DID try!

I think Edwina was wrong to do what she did. She was actually quite aggressive with Kendra. However, that doesn't give Kendra the excuse to behave as she did and those excusing that behaviour simply on the ground that they don't like Edwina (as those defending her don't actually!) or because Edwina was wrong herself are a bad reflection on society.

I respectfully disagree. You said that Edwina's contribution to Kendra's monologue was unsolicited. You then went on to say that one should respect other's opinions. So I asked you why Kendra isn't required to respect Edwina's.

We are on a forum where opinions are not only solicted but expected. In real life Edwina's outburst was incredibly rude and provoking. She didn't wait for a pause in the conversation to respectfully put across her opinion or try to integrate herself to the conversation, she yelled across the camp that she disagreed and then gave a tirade as to why. I saw Kandra's response as initially shocked at Edwinas reaction and then afronted, understandably so even if her actual response wasn't.

Lets face it - they are bored in there. The days are long - little things start to irritate.

Much as I dislike Edwina Currie (with a passion) I completely understood her reaction to sitting having to listen to the absolute garbage that Kendra was spouting - I for one wouldn't have been able to hold my tongue.

Others tried to explain it away and said that Edwina had misunderstood what Kendra was saying - maybe it's an 'age' thing but I read it like Edwina and it made my hackles rise TBH.

I agree with this. I suspect some peoples dislike of EC is clouding their judgment some what. Kendra was utterly vile. I do t know how old her children are but I would be mortified if my mother behaved like that n public. Edwina has always been on opinionated old crow, and I quite like that. But she did not deserve that diatribe of venom. I'm thinking Kendra is unstable and rather flakey. And sorry , I'm not buying all the " poor abused victim " stuff. She's just unpleasant . Hell I shudder to think what would have happened if Edwina had retaliated in kind with verbal abuse and swearing.

This doesn't sound like an Irishwoman speaking to me lol. Many Irish folks swear in polite conversation as you should know if you are Irish and it doesn't tend to bring a conversation to an abrupt standstill, we get on with it. We tend to let other people be themselves.

Edwina was taunting that girl, and as other people have pointed out she is a politician and knows precisely what she's about. I don't know that Kendra's trying to be a role model to anyone, but she has a right to speak for herself and to tell others this is how I do things, I didn't hear her try to impose her way on anyone..
Edwina was trying to make her seem small minded, selfish and closed off to others, this is what she intended and that's what she did.

I don't know what Kendra said about being a role model tbh but I'm not going to condemn her for trying to get something out of life just because it's not something I myself would think savoury. She has been taken advantage of even if she can't see it herself but at least she's come out of it with a strength of character and an ability to not to be so easily conned by those around her as the rest of us maybe.

Edwina is entitled to her own opinion, just like anyone else, what she isn't entitled to is to interrupt someone who's in the process of explaining something and break her concentration and stop her speaking, That was deliberately timed, ill mannered and rude and a flagrant attempt to make Kendra look bad to the others. Kendra sussed what she was doing and retaliated. She only retaliated when Edwina wouldnt drop it and made it plain she was not going to stop.
She should've stopped speaking and turned to the others and said, we'll finish this later when Edwina's not listening then if she wanted to avoid conflict but why should she have had to do that?

Kendra was very wise to Eggwina and her badness I think, it's interesting that she called her the devil, isn't it? She knows a bad egg when she smells one. I think Edwina has been slyly been winding her up in a subtle unseen way for a while maybe and the missing socks are just one outstanding clear illustration of this.

I'm not sure how much is down to the editing but I have felt that Edwina has been annoyed with Kendra for a while and been looking for a way to bring her down. I certainly felt the way she butted in last night was deliberately to provoke Kendra. The way she just said something and then lay down with her eyes closed so as to not invite a response was really rude.

Edwina is an intelligent woman and she was dealing with someone who doesn't seem to be as aware as she is.
Compare how Craig dealt with a similar situation with Gemma when she was moaning about being hungry all the time. Craig managed to make Gemma aware of how she was coming across without being mean or provoking an argument. Edwina was deliberately provoking Kendra to behave in a way which would come across badly.

When I saw the trailers about the show I was sure I was going to be thinking Kendra is a potty mouth but I actually felt more sorry for her and though Edwina was being manipulative against her.
