How likely is it that IAN killed Lucy??

The thing that I cant get out of my mind is the ansaphone message he left on her phone the night she died- a one word message"Sorry".

I think with the 30th anniversary plot revolving around Ian itd be the ultimate twist, given that weve seen all his tears & mourning if he was the killer (deliberate or not)

Either way- I think its Ian or someone v close to him.

My gut is telling me that Ian is the killer. I was convinced he wasn't for ages, but now I'm not so sure

I really hope that DTC doesn't make the killer a Beale.

Currently as an audience we're been led to believe that Peter Beale is involved in the death of his sister.

I don't think Lucy's death was murder, I think it might have been unintentional. I also think more than one person was involved.

If you look at the evidence, Lucy did not die at the scene where she was found. So for someone to move the body they'd had have transport and have the physical capability to move Lucy. So I think you're looking for a pair.

Was it:

Charlie and Nick - Lucy may have seen Nick and in a desperate attempt to stay dead he may have lashed out and Charlie helped to stage a robbery.

Abi and Max - Did Darth Abi flip at the discovery of her fathers relationship with Lucy. Max maybe helped Abi cover her death up.

Ben and Jay - We all know they at some point had contact with Lucy that night as they came into possession of her purse and phone. When she saw Ben did a row break out?

Lola and Billy - We know Lucy upset Peter that evening, did Lola confront her and kill her, leaving Billy to clear up the mess? Did Billy plant an ear ring in Jakes flat?

I like all of these particularly Charlie and Nick, Ronnie may be roped in to help them with alibis and Phil and Sharon involved which would really test Sharon as a Mitchell but also Ian's best friend.

I can see it being Peter. Not for plot reasons but for reasons of convenience. It gives the actor a dramatic exit and if he's in jail for murder, it saves them having to think about recasting the character, until a long time down the line.

Why would Patrick kill Lucy.
In the original press release it was said that everyone will have a reason and they would explore that

Jane possibly? Don't want it to and I hope she's not the killer! Or Cindy..I don't think it will be Cindy(hopefully!) Mimi Keene is one of the most talented actresses In the show, far better than most of the female cast who are in their early twenties, so I don't think DTC would want to write her out. Cindy is a fantastic character and I don't think the show would want to risk losing an actress that could well be(I have no doubt she will) sweeping the boards at award ceremonies in the future! I do think that Lucy's death was accidental and not at all premeditated

I still think it's Peter. I think something happened and he was worried he had killed her; he seemed desperate to find out who had seen her last, but once he found out that Jake - who hadn't killed her - had seen her after a certain time, Peter completely gave up trying to find out who HAD seen her last. I think he gave up because he made sure that after he had seen her/hurt her, someone else had seen her so, to his mind, he couldn't have killed her - she was up and walking around. But I think it was one of those delayed-reaction injuries and he'll turn out to be responsible.

^ This is what I thought happened from the beginning.

Phew! Not just me then! There was a comment under one of the Lucy articles saying that if it was Peter it would obviously be a rushed re-write, and I was baffled because there's been so many hints and clues around him (as well as a lot of other characters).

If he'd killed her why would he then send her a message saying "Sorry".

Wasn't that in reference to the argument they had in her last episode.

Lucy didn't die where she was discovered. Surely if your theory is right then someone other than Peter moved her body?

It's a good theory but it's too similar to the Emmerdale story line.

I don't like the sound of an unwitting killer at all. A heat of the moment type thing, like Ben and Heather is fine but the suggestion of delayed injuries and all that malarkey is very underwhelming.

It's Peter or Cindy for me. Perhaps that's the real reason why Cindy can't cope with her baby. Everytime she looks at a baby and the new life, she's reminded of the one she ended.

I think after the whole debacle it took to get Stacey back on the show that EE will have learned it's lesson in making the killer a character who isn't leaving in the immediate future. Unless Adam is planning on making a shock exit, I just can't see it being Ian.

I guess with the news that Peter is leaving he's very much back in the frame, but I just can't get away from Nick. He's big enough of a character to make the reveal iconic, but can leave the show and maybe come back in the future again without it being to unrealistic, because he's already a bit of a panto character!

I have only watched it on and off, but surely the Children in need sketch showed that Ian couldn't be the killer because if he was there would be no point in asking Lucy who did it to her.
