Eh, I met a woman named Yukio. Not only she has no trace of Japanese heritage in her background, it's a masculine name. Her Scottish white parents simply liked the name. I also met a Chandra and a Jai. No Indian heritage in her and his families, either.
On the famous side, George Harrison named his son Dhani, an Indian female name. And there's musician Krishna Guthrie (grandson of Arlo Guthrie and great-grandson of Woody Guthrie), a common Indian masculine name and both his parents are white. How about Farrah Fawcett? It's a classic Arabic unisex name, but no trace of the Middle East in her family.
It's not that unusual.
It's better to rely on surnames than first names to make a guess, anyway. His surname - Sood-Smith - suggests there's Asian heritage in his family. Still doesn't mean he's mixed race, though. I think he is, but I've been wrong a couple of times. I once met a young white guy with Chan as his surname. I assumed one of his paternal ancestors was Chinese therefore he must be mixed race, but it turned out his step-father adopted him and his sister after marrying their widowed mother.
Until Sanjay says it himself, no one knows for sure. So be it.
