EE Lucy's phone
At the end of the episode where Lucy died, we heard the voicemails on her phone
The police then couldn't find the phone This was because jay had it How did he get it if it was next to Lucy's body? |

Good spotting.
This is either a continuity error, or Jay and Ben got ahold of the phone after she had died. |

That's very true. They must have seen Lucy after she died. Maybe that is part of what Ben confesses to Ian?

Was the phone actually with her? I thought the point of the voicemails was to show that people were trying to find her when she was laying there dead and it was a way of making her death even sadder.

I don't think we saw the phone, the voicemails were just played over the scene.

Yeah, voicemails were played stylistically, but also worth remembering that we saw Lucy's body when it was dark, and she was found when it was light - there is missing time there

The phone wasent actually shown near Lucy's body when it showed her in the woods the voicemails just played and then the episode ended. I still think Peter killed Lucy and somehow Jay and Ben have got involved

Surely it's not likely that her phone would be blasting out a stream of voicemail messages at top volume all on its own? |

I reckon Ben (for some reason) was walking in the common on his way back to the square. Saw the body. Took the phone and was gonna call someone. He got distracted by the people who found her. Knew he just got out of prison he couldnt risk going down again so legged it. Even though hes innocent, the fact he is a convicted murderer who just got out and is by a dead body the evidence would stack up against him
He told Jay who believed he was innocent. So he hid it for him. |

Or the more realistic situation was that Lucy caught Ben and Jay shop lifting, they had an argument. They were calling lucy and leaving messages. They eventually found her dead and saw the phone. Knowing the police would check the messages they took it.
