EE- Remember When Shirley Attacked Jay For Being Racist Against Yolande
With recent allegations against Linda Henry remember back in 2007 when Jay called Yolande a black cow and Shirley was upset about this and shouted at Jay.

Yes but these are false allegations allegedly. Linda Henry is a quiet residing person so this all seems a bit untrue and Linda will be fighting to clear her name in court soon.
Don't believe everything you read in the paper. |

Again, they are only allegations. She has been charged, she hasn't been found guilty and in cases like these, you can be charged on the smallest amount of evidence. You just can't say anything anymore to be honest, the world has become overly sensitive when it comes to possible 'racism', I have doubts that if she wasn't in the public eye, it would have even gone to court, many people have rows in the street and don't get hauled up in front of a judge for it.
I personally don't believe it is as cut and dry as the papers have made out. Anyway, we don't know what happened or the context of what might have been said. She is fighting to clear her name, must be tough to be in the public eye during something like this. I personally hope this doesn't jeopardize her place at EastEnders, it would be such a loss to lose her imo and I have to say that I don't think a suspension would be necessary so they have done the right thing.A bit of of a zinger that the trial is smack bang around the Lucy reveal week, I imagine EE are concerned that the publicity of the trial will overshadow the 30th anniversary. But I like to think that Linda has the support of her co workers. Anyway it's probably best not to keep discussing it and I don't think this thread was even necessary tbh. |

Shirley is a character, whatever happened with Linda is real life.

In reality she's allegedly a racist, whilst on screen she isn't.

I'm sorry but... who are you to say this? If you've never been on the receiving end of racism or realised how it's so entrenched in society that it's still alive and affecting people TODAY then I don't think anyone has the right to claim people are being too "sensitive". My two cents.

I have been on the recieving end. Racism works both ways, you know, although that seems to be convientely forgotten.. And I wasnt saying about actual racism, as I know the seriousness and the impact that it has, I was saying that the world is overly sensitive and ANYTHING can be taken the wrong way so its best to be careful before judging. We are all so worried about being 'politically correct' about what we can and can't say because anything can be labelled as racism nowadays, even if that isn't the intention so I was merely saying without facts or knowing what was said and in what context, cases like these are hard go form an opinion on from the outside. I am not racist and would never make racist remarks but even I get concerned about how to put things when it is related to these issues...
I believe that racism is one thing and having an argument when something is said that is later regretted is completely another thing. And the two shouldn't get confused. I remember when I was at school, and black children can be just as racists to white children as the other way round, but imo this gets overlooked. What's next? If I call someone decrepid, am I inciting hatred towards age? If I call someone fat, am I inciting hatred towards obesity? Unfortunately noone is perfect, and I bet we've all said things in the heat of the moment that maybe we regretted later on, but it doesn't make us anything other than what we are and that is - human -.! I feel sad that so many people are instantly labelling Linda Henry as a racist when noone knows exactly what happened. It's madness.... And even if she did say something racist, then ok, maybe she was wrong, but then again maybe the other person said something to her that was wrong as well....who knows. But in any case, that wouldn't necessarily make someone an out and out racist anyway. imo. |

Do you really think that the courts should be involved in these disputes? And do you think it'd be happening still if she wasn't a famous actress? |

Well said. I agree with all of that. And I believe like you that it seems this country has turned far too sensitive over this.

No one can say honestly that they haven't said things they regret in the past and I agree that racism is one thing and an argument is another. Quote:
So do you really think that Linda Henry should be going to court and facing charges over what is basically (and unless I've got my facts wrong) an argument outside a restaurant.

About 14 years ago I took my daughter to Disneyland Paris, she was obsessed with bad girls (probably shouldn't have been watching it as she was only 10 years old lol) and Linda Henry was staying in the same hotel with her family.
Naturally my daughter was very excited and when we happened to be in the same bar as her my daughter wouldn't stop staring, she wanted to go over but I wouldn't let her and explained that she was an actress with her family etc, but maybe when they were leaving it would be a good time to ask for her autograph. Now I accept that my daughter was staring, despite my telling her not to, suddenly Linda H stormed out of her chair and then started screeching at the staff that she was on holiday with her family and she wasn't going to put up with this and various other things which I couldn't repeat on here. At the same time she was screeching she was pointing at my daughter and literally giving a 10 year old evils!!! Never liked the woman since. She terrified my daughter. So nothing would surprise me. |

Wow, I'm so sorry to hear that, I guess it just goes to show that you never really know with people, goes completely against what people have said about how nice she is.![]()
