I bought this little music machine for work this week, primarily to play MP3s via USB.
First day it stuttered a bit on a couple of tracks, but was otherwise ok all day. But driving home in the car, the USB stick failed to work in the car stereo. Now I can't get the radio to play the USB stick at all , and when I put USB in Laptop it says "Not formatted".
The USB stick has been working without problem for about 5 years.

Should I return the item to Amazon and get refund?

Before you do that you need to be certain it was the radio that killed the USB stick and not either "operator error" or the car radio.

If all it has done is corrupt the file system then you should be able to revive the stick by formatting it again and seeing if you can store any data on it. If you can get it back try putting some songs on it and try it in the car. if it works fine there and you can take it out of the car and play the songs OK on the laptop as well then that suggests the stick is OK as is the car radio.

Now try it in the radio/CD player and see what happens. If it corrupts the USB stick again then chances are something is wrong with the player.

I would also try it with another stick (one you don't have anything vital one obviously ) and see if that gets corrupted in the same way by the radio/CD player.

There is always the chance the USB stick was on it's last legs anyway and it was pure coincidence that it died in the radio/CD player and not the car or the laptop.

Yeah, I just re-formatted the USB, put some music on it. Ok in car. Ok in laptop.
I'm sending the CD Player back.

No. But while I'm waiting for the vendor to respond to my request for refund, I'll try USB again at work tomorrow. I'd bet a pound to a penny it fails again.
