Didn't the police have Lucy's phone just after Lucy's death? I'm pretty sure they played her voicemails to Ian and Peter. :/

Yes and Lucy had her phone with her when she died because started to get voice mails from everyone, so ben must have taken it after she was killed

Not necessarily. We heard the voicemails for dramatic effect to show Cindy, Ian and Lee trying to reach her while we saw her dead on the commons. The police stated at the time that her phone and purse were missing, which led them to believe Lucy had been killed by someone mugging her, but they are able to retrieve stuff from her phone without actually having it, hence how they found out she had been texting someone (Max) at the time in a flirty way.

The voicemails were only heard over the scene. We didn't see the phone directly with the body. Ben or Jay or even someone they covering for may have been listening to them.

This whole phone business is boiling my piss!

There is NO way on this earth that Ian wouldn't have handed that phone and purse over to the police!!!!!!! Furthermore, there is no way Masood, Denise, Patrick and Jane would keep the fact that they know about the discovery just to protect Ben!!!!! Denise knows the police would expect to speak to her!!!!!!

Plus the police would be alerted if that mobile were to ever be turned back on and they'd know which location area that the phone was turned on from!!!!!

BANG MY HEAD AGAINST A BRICK WALL!!!!!

No i dont thinks so. Ian and/or Peter kept ringing it to hear her answerphone message.

As for the voice over phone messages, just dramatic license, obviously her phone wasnt broadcasting those messages out to the woods.

This is what I thought too but then when Ben said they would latch onto him as the killer just like they did with Carl, I realised he was right and Ian wants the real killer to be caught not Ben to be sent down.

I do agree about the phone being switched on but I wonder if/how the police would be alerted to it.
