My S5 is a month old, bought off Amazon. Yesterday my phone wouldn't make calls. I got a "call not sent" message for 2 hours, until I rebooted my phone, then it worked fine.
Also when I tried to text someone that I regularly text, using the reply to existing text method, it repeatedly told me the number was invalid. I had to enter the number manually (not even via contacts) before it would send texts. Also solved by the reboot.
The failure happened in 3 different areas of where I live, both inside and out.

Is this a phone fault or network fault? I googled and there were a few results relating to samsung phones having dodgy hardware re signal receivers.
I'd be grateful for any input from samsung owners who might know about this problem. Cheers

I would check your model number in settings to ensure you have a UK model.
Some have been know to be foreign incompatible versions on Amazon

'it repeatedly told me the number was invalid'

Obviously, a network fault unless of course your typing was erroneous, auto incorrected

Might be worth contacting your network and trying another SIM?

Also try a factory reset and see if you are still having problems before installing any apps etc.

if it still does it I would get Amazon go exchange it.

thanks guys. It's a UK model. Network is Tesco/O2. The problem was entirely resolved (so far so good....) by the reboot.
Data worked throughout on 4G from Tesco.
It was weird and highly inconvenient though
