My grandma had a dog when I was young and it ate nearly all the cough sweets. They are called throaties which come in 3 flavors and the dog used to like the red ones (Strong Original) but not bother with the purple (Blackcurrant) or yellow ones (Honey And Lemon). The dog managed to get onto the stand and rip the packet open and it ate 9 out of 10. After that she had to put them out of the dog's reach. I don't know why dogs like those though.

One of ours eats lettuce which is quite odd for a dog !

My dog's favourite food is tomato and anything with tomato flavouring, including baked beans. If I was to put a bowl of meat out and a bowl of chopped tomatoes she'd go for the tomatoes first, every time. I suppose they're just like us with regards to foods they do or don't like. She won't go near lettuce.

My mother's springer used to go mad for raw carrot. She was far too over weight and when she stayed with me, she used to have a large salad every lunchtime - greens and anything else in the veg basket. Alas, she would then go back to my mother and a diet of chocolate and cream buns.

None of my dogs have ever showed any interest in vegetables, although my lab will eat anything else he can break out of the rubbish bin or cupboards. Which is why there is a baby gate at the kitchen door.

One of ours adores pineapple. He loves strawberries, apples, melon and salad as well as potatoes and all cooked veggies but pineapple is his absolute favourite. The other 3 look at him as if he's mad when he eats it!

My Greyhound loves peas. He'll spit out carrots and go for the peas. Crisps also, especially spicy ones. In fact he likes curry too.

Mine likes porridge which isn't that strange I suppose and is better than her liking for tea towels and duck-poo. A friend's dog favoured paper hanky tissues, preferably used. Then again not what humans would consider food .

My pup's too young to be an adventurous diner. But the cat has been known to eat curry and chilli leftovers.... She has lived to be 20 so it hasn't done her much harm.

My last dog would eat veggies and fruit happily. Only dog I've ever had that would.

My dog will eat pasta but only if it's fresh tagiatelle and only if you throw it at her while it's still warm and she can catch it mid air

One of our previous dogs loved a whole carrot - she used to prop it upright between her paws to chew it!

The current dog loves creamy things - yoghurt, bread and butter. And, oddly, apples - which she plays with and rolls on before eating!

Ours loves apples and wont leave you alone if you're eating one, he then eats the core. If you give him a whole one, he guards it for a long time before eating it.

My old boy has developed a liking for tea - he glues himself to my side, staring intently at the mug, waiting to get his tongue into the inch I leave him.

Our Greyhound loves cornflakes with a little milk. To be honest, he'd try eating anything

My dog had Weetabix fairly often when weaning - and still loves it.

These days his favourite thing in the world are Bourbon biscuits, though I don't like him to have too many of those because of the chocolate flavouring.

He once ate a whole Magnum ice-cream that someone had dropped - scoffed the whole thing in a flash before I could stop him, stick and all.
I was a bit worried about the stick and phoned the vet, who told me that as long as it went down whole (not splintered), and seeing as he's a fairly large dog, it would probably pass right through him with no problem - but to kep an eye on him in case he went off his food (if the stick caused a blockage)
3 days later, I found the stick, still complete, embedded in his waste.
A kinda 'lollipoop' maybe...

Lola Lakie is a carbohound. She adores carbs of almost any description, but especially mashed potato, rice and pasta.

She's also very partial to spicy food - chilli, curries etc, and on the rare occasions Mr Lakie has a kebab, she loves the meat with chilli sauce on.

She's not so fussed about sweet things, probably because I've never encouraged her to eat chocolate or sweet biscuits.

Our dog loves watercress.

Our Cairns love fruit and veg, especially carrots. Dogs are omnivores anyway, unlike cats who are purely carnivorous. So not that unusual. They also love apples and any sweet fruit.

My dog seemed to have a thing for lard and tights. When I moved into my own place that was no longer an issue.

My boy loves crisps, prawn crackers, anything crunchy. Obviously we don't give him too much but the little bits he gets he loves he absolutely loves cheese too and prefers his mince & chicken warm rather than refrigerated. He also loves the teeny bit
of tea left in the bottom of the cup!

My dog loves carrots. The vet told me to give them to him. In the beginning I use to cup it up, not now don't bother. I just give a whole carrot and he loves it
