Linda was sick quite a bit after she was raped, so the pill wouldn't have been as effective as usual, that's even if she remembered to take it at all considering the state of shock she was in.

If the pill wasn't in her system or didn't have time to take effect, then its very likely she could have gotten pregnant that way. Which makes me believe that this baby might be Dean's since I doubt that Mick and Linda would have sex before the pill takes effect. Even if Dean knew, he wouldn't have waited until the pill took effect to take his sister-in-law/"aunt".

If the baby is Dean's, then we'll see if Saint Mick can keep his halo because he would be raising a child that would be his niece and not his daughter. Alan Jackson is the only true saint in this regard, taking on someone who behaved like a hooker and her three bastards at the age of 21.

Taking the pill is not like taking an aspirin or other
drugs where the effect is immediate. It prevents ovulation and hormones are a process. Hence if you take the pill late or miss taking it for say 24 hours you will still be protected. It takes time for the body to adjust.

I do think the original op was genuine which says a lot for sex education. I remember being shown a cartoon about stds. Teachers who are not specifically trained to teach sex education are often embarrassed. It is so important because a girl can have an early period and can get pregnant.

This is why in the mediaeval period children were married at 11. People want to psychologically keep children as children but physically the body is moving on. It is this disconnect that causes so many problems with more instances of young boys raping young girls.

some people can get pregnant whilst taking the pill as its only 99% effective... its pretty rare but can happen... some women are super fertile, whereas it can be the total opposite for other women.....

The pill doesn't always work. It's not infallible.

A man's gubbins can survive for three days or so inside a woman's womb. She vomited so could feasibly have lost a few days of her pill meaning she could feasibly ovulate. As she didn't go near Mick afterwards it wouldn't be his unless her pill failed before the rape. It's not 100% effective but mainly when not used correctly.

It would be so sad, but it could happen. I was on the pill for 7-8 years, took it like clockwork, and still got pregnant.

Stress can also mess with the effectiveness of the pill. We were buying a house when I got pregnant and it ended up being kind of a rough road. Linda was probably stressed out over Mick's arrest and Dean's harassment, so it wouldn't be surprising if her pill failed.

I do hope the baby is Mick's, though. It would be really tough to move on from the rape if a little bit of Dean would always be following Linda and Mick. 😞

I was on the pill from 16 years old to 24 and after stopping taking it to try for a baby, it took 7 months to conceive as it took that long for my hormones / body to go back to normal - has it been said how long Linda was on the pill for? Cos if it was since having Johnny (is he the youngest?), surely having the pill in your system for that many years would make missing the pill / vomiting it not that big a deal?

It also depends on what kind of pill she is taking. If she has been taking the same pill since after having Johnny then she may be on the mini pill rather than the usual combined pill. The mini pill is slightly less effective but it is given to women who have had issues with blood clots either personally or in their family or if they are breast feeding while taking the pill.

I think when she threw up she was already pregnant by that point. Smelling certain things makes nauseous beyond all believe. When my mother was pregnant with me, the smell of eggs cooking made her always projectile vomit.

We don't know for certain. Linda fears he is. She and Mick have resisted a paternity test up until now, but I think they'll cave after the baby is born.

I don't know, you lot on here know nothing about the facts of life. I thought everyone knew that the daddy gets a seed and pops it into the mummy's tummy button and nine month's later out comes a baby. I learned this when I was seven and just assumed everyone knew
