This is so nuts, I created a new thread.
Check out post #1568 in the EE 2G/3G/4G Discussion Thread.

Whilst very (VERY) impressive, I fail to see the benefit of such a speed on a mobile phone. Anything over 10mbit/sec is plenty. 134mbit/sec is just nuts.

I would say anything over 5Mbps is enough tbh. But latency also matters a lot as well.

When using the mobile network as a fixed line replacement, getting speeds close to that of landline broadband is really useful. In a hotel recently the hotel WiFi was 512kbps max, and the EE 4G was 25megabit, so it was better to tether my phone to my work laptop to check email, and update AV and settings - so I could get done and out to dinner. Rather that waiting for hours on the hotel crap-Wifi

Look, mate, I didn't say I needed it. I just love tech and this floats my boat.
I'm a 46 year old divorcee remember, I need to have something to get excited about.
Yes it's pointless on a mobile (although downloading 32 app updates in the blink of an eye is fun) but I just love the whole advancement of technology to the point where we can connect wirelessly at speeds that were unimaginable just 10 years ago.
Also remember that the ever increasing speeds mean that more users get faster speeds more of the time since Internet access is still generally bursty rather than constant.
Remember that pic that Lucan posted (I think t was him) with the LTE-A phone doing 146Mbps? I can do very nearly that now on standard LTE.
Love it. Don't need it, just love it!
Is that a fair comment?

As a previous divorcee, I couldn't possibly comment

Yes but your age has a 4 in front of it so that makes me feel somehow, better!
Perhaps we should change our usernames to Plymouthbloke1984 and Devonbloke1978 then we would be 30 and 36 respectively.
Yes, that sounds much better!

Must admit as long as I've got decent 3G and have at least 5 meg everywhere I go (which I do with Three) I'm happy.

Come on, we all love technology even when we have no (current) need for it... bring on gigabit download speeds on my £100 smartphone

I'm the same, if I can stream download apps in seconds, browse fast and generally do everything I want to do I'm happy.

It's a phone, so I can't really see the benefit of 120Mb/s speeds right now, I'd rather have unlimited 5Mb/s data so that I can use it as much as I want.
