Oh I think we all understand banter. It's harder trying to understand those who confuse it with downright nastiness though.

Most dictionary definitions include the words ''friendly teasing''

Jake started in this manner, but Jimmy took it a lot further than that.

That's how I see it.

Jimmy crossed the line.

The thing is though - I think to him he genuinely believes it was banter - but he just couldn't seem to see that he had genuinely hurt Jake. He doesn't seem to understand himself that there is a difference between banter and just being genuinely hurtful. I don't particularly like Jake (only because I find him boring) but I felt for him tonight. I think the fact that Jimmy doesn't even realise that his behaviour tonight has SERIOUSLY damaged any chance he has of winning this is proof that he doesn't know the difference.

I suppose he's just a bit thick really!

Let's not act like this was unprovoked. Did Jake deserve it? No. Did Jimmy go too far, yeah a little. Next time Jake will know better and not compare someone to the elderly bit offensive.
They're hungry, tired and dirty. We all have bad days and Jimmy seemed apologetic afterwards. It happens.

no he didnt think it was a bit of banter, which is why he started going onto overdrive about it being banter, we all do that when we realise we're in the wrong and Bullard was.

Jimmy definitely got hurt by being mistaken for a 68 year old man, and Jake definitely got hurt by being called out on having no talent and not being a celebrity. Which is fair enough, truth hurts sometimes

They both came out of it as badly as each other for me”

Me too.

Buerk is in far better condition than 9 year old Jimmy

He did know he'd hurt Jake. He was quite clear that he saw he had really hurt him. He was so clear he told Jake that he saw it in his eyes and then he reaffirmed it in the Bush Telegraph. Mm I'm wondering if he was actually just trying to make sure we knew that he had successfully put the boot into Jake. I think he may have been doing this to make us realise that it was all banter and he had won

What an arse. I could maybe have accepted it was banter 'roll eyes' if he hadn't already shown how very angry and upset he was that he had been mistaken for Michael.

Then I think its safe to assume then that Jimmy Bullard does NOT want to win this series - surely no-one would jeopardise their own chances by behaving like he did!

It was extremely puzzling wasn't it? I suppose that's what hunger does for you.

I do think he's blown it TBH. What a dip stick ..............he had it in the bag

I agree with every word of this. It's also kind of amusing to me that most of us on this forum are considered too dopey to understand what a bit of banter is by one or two posters who are defending Jimmy. By failing to see a pattern I think I know who the thick ones are

I don't believe for one minute that he thinks that what developed was banter. His rictus grin gave the game well and truly away?

I can understand hunger and exhaustion making people act strangely. But Bullyard's behaviour was that of an angry little man with emotional issues.

I'm not defending Jimmy though - I think his behaviour was out of order - or at the very least - he should have known when to stop. I must admit though - that even before tonight - he really was starting to get on my nerves a little.

Cast your mind back to the start when Jake first came in, and Bullard was in the hut and made a comment about "why did you bring him in?, I'm top dog in here, I don't like him"). he tried to make it look like a joke but it was obviously more than that. I also suspect his pal on the show (Beckett) got word to him about Jake gaining popularity. That's probably what sparked his recent ramping up of his routine, and even more camera hogging, and finally this confrontation. He sees young Jake liked by the girls, liked by all the camp, and performing very well on trials (unlike JB), and it threatens him. He finally snapped. But his attempts to try and disguise it as "banter" were pathetic and creepy.

No I know you're not, I was lumping you in with the rest of us who have no clue what banter is According to a couple on here we don't understand, but I'm a firm believer in the old adage that "everyone can't be wrong". Sorry if my post confused you, I was actually agreeing with all you had to say. And yes, I never got the appeal of Jimmy and now I definitely see nothing to like about him.

I'd add embarrassing to that list.

Oh he knew all right. That's why he kept repeating that his banter had hurt Jake IE Jake can't take banter not that he went too far into deeply unpleasant territory.

As for deprivation in the jungle being the reason behind it, I don't agree in that I think this is what Jimmy is like. He can give it but not necessarily take it. His being nasty like that is obviously the norm when someone else's banter gets under his skin, but he isn't normally on a reality TV show when it happens and he can therefore get away with it more easily.

I don't know that his chance at winning has completely gone because according to the betting he is still the favourite but Jake has started to close in so ironically he my have handed the win to him

Jimmy wants to be the next Phil Tuffnel

I no idea what Jake wants to do. Just a few weeks ago, he wanted to be a singer.

Phil Tufnell has more charm in his little finger than Bullard has in his miserable scrawny frame.

He's been a false favourite from day 1 but his odds have been getting longer over the last few days and soon he'll be an outsider. He won't be in the first 3. I'd say its between Mel, Jake, Edwina, and Foggy.

Agree if you replace Foggy with Michael
