"The Telegraph understands that the supermarket is in detailed talks with Vodafone and that other parties have withdrawn from the bidding."

I always thought Tesco's efforts on BlinkBox were a bit muted. Its smart TVs did not feature the service and Tesco's own Technika streaming device for the service had poor reviews and was soon dropped in favour of the Now TV boxes.

I'm surprised that Vodafone feels the need to acquire the service as it could just rebrand an existing white label service like FilmFlex.

Strange I would of thought Tesco's would be in an ideal place to really push "Blinkbox"

I think Tesco's problem was because of their name, they thought that BlinkBox would really take off, with very little marketing from them. They give you a voucher credit for BlinkBox when you buy DVD's/Bluray from them, but I always bin them, as they form part of the receipt and aren't really noticeable. Then remember 3 days later, plus it's not on Apple TV / Fire TV so their limiting their userbase.

www.FT.com A deal could be announced as soon as next week, when Dave Lewis, the new chief executive of Tesco, unveils his strategy for turning around Britain’s biggest retailer and shoring up its balance sheet.

I hope this doesn't go through. I know a fair few people here don't like Blinkbox, but I find it really useful, and pretty good. Also I get clubcard points.

Interestingly, as well as getting BlinkBox, TalkTalk is also acquiring Tesco Broadband. The Telegraph puts the deal at £5m
