Curious if anybody else has noticed this...

In earlier series of IAC, the Versace hotel was much-touted as being 'the world's only six star hotel'.

However, in this series during the annual pre-ads punter competition promo in each programme, it's clearly said that part of the prize is staying in the 'five star Versace hotel', over an image of the same hotel.

So, what happened to its sixth star? Did a contestant swipe it for an extra meal for camp?

(For all those thinking I'm a bit sad for noticing this, it's what happens when you tire of things like the 'antics' (I.e. chronic attention-seeking) of the likes of Bullshit Dullard. Trivia suddenly starts to appear interesting...)

And wouldn't it be A quiet little website if nobody asked questions and started topics?

It might have been the only 6 star but the Burj Al Arab has 7 so it's not much of a claim.

Actually it doesn't, the 7 stars originate from a journalist on a press trip...the hotel itself neither encourage this or advertise this.

There is no actual universal hotel rating system.

This is a discussion forum, so I started a discussion. I'm sorry if that offended you.

And having had a look at some of your other posts on the DS Forums, I can't quite see at which point your own sparkling contributions earned you the golden ticket to climb the ivory tower.

If you want to Google "I'm idly wondering if anyone else on the Digital Spy forums noticed that the Versace hotel is now only touted as being 'five star'" then please, be my guest...

In which case the Versace hotel's 6 stars is completely fabricated as well.

All star ratings are really, there is no one organisation that universally credits star ratings, ratings are issued by different organisations in different parts of the World and differing criteria. Also checks on these ratings are not always regular, it can be years & years since a hotel has been rated. The true luxury hotels usually don't tend to advertise their star ratings as there is no need, you generally know by the brand.

Ritz Carlton, Mandarin Oriental, Four Seasons, Luxury Hotels of the World, Small Luxury Hotels of the World etc....

Wikipedia claims that it is the only 8-star hotel in the world!

The evicted celebrities always used to get put into luxury suites in the hotel, now they just get standard rooms.
Maybe it has all gone downmarket.
