A water pack with a tube so that she could simply lower her head and drink from it whenever she wanted.

Probably something to do with her medical condition.

It was useless though as the drinking tube got covered in gunge and bugs.

It makes sense when they were out there for an unknown period of time to avoid dehydration, especially in consideration of Edwina's age

maybe she has in halers or something. I'm not sure why she was medical unfit for one of the trials - maybe it's something to do that.
