Agree with that. Most people outside of football will not know who JB is. I have a vague recollection of JQ on X Factor. JQ is not a celeb, but neither is JB. JB looks like the type of lairy geezer you find strutting their stuff in sarf London. Big on the council estate and in their own heads but a minnow in the real world.

It's irrelevant whether what Jimmy said was truthful or not. I think most of us would probably agree that it was.
But was it necessary?
No I don't think it was.

The intent and motivation behind what Jimmy did is what is under scrutiny here, not whether he was telling the truth.

I'm sick of it on these reality shows where contestants are always defended because 'They're just being honest' or 'They're just saying how it is' or 'They're only saying what everyone is thinking'.
That does not take into account any malicious intent behind 'just being honest'.

So, what is the truth. that Jake is known by millions, was invited onto the show the same as every one else, and seems like a nice guy. if you want to spout the truth then spout the whole truth, and don't cherry pick for maximum offence.

Well at least we know the truth about Jimmy now....he's a nasty piece of work.

The truth hurt them both and they both got nasty

No surprise the vast majority of viewers are sticking up for the young good looking slightly effeminate one though

Not that I like to engage in these kind of judgements but what is kissing, cuddling and freaking out at tasks and jungle critters about but quintessentially (if a tad sexist ) effeminate

Actually that is a fair point. I'd never heard of Jimmy, Foggy, Kendra or Nadia and had very much heard of Jake so why is he considered fair game to put down as not being deserving

Anyway Jimmy probably just handed Jake the win with this particular put down so Ha Ha Ha

Jake on occasion has said he doesn't think he's famous. He didn't need Jimmy to wind him up like that. If Jake had been going round explaining how he's a big deal, then fair. But he's been open about how lucky he is.

"Truth hurts" is one of those meaningless sayings.

I'm sure we could all tear apart anyone we know by picking on and hammering home their weaknesses to their face.

Think of all your failings and all the things you've done wrong and imagine someone shouting them in your face.

And it's not really "the truth" is it? What about all the good things that someone like Jake has achieved and his positive personality traits.

That is the worst comparison in the world. A doctor tells a patient the result of tests in the assumption that the patient wants to know and can plan his or her life accordingly.

That doesn't mean that anyone has the right to hurl abuse at anyone they want to on the grounds that it is 'the truth'. I seriously hope you don't go through life telling people that their new wife is hideous, their granddaughter's ballet performance is contemptible, the christmas present they have lovingly hand-made is dreadful, and really you would rather they died quickly because you are hoping to inherit from them, on the grounds that you see all these things as 'the truth' that you have 'every right to speak'.

Welcome to the concepts of courtesy and kindness.

Exactly.

Go round telling everyone "the truth" - and only negative truths - and see if it's appreciated.

I hate the phrase 'truth hurts' too. I wouldn't go up to someone with a skin condition, insult them and then when they get offended..."well truth hurts".

Jake is a decent guy, if ITV offered you £100k to go to the jungle for a couple of weeks, you'd take it.

In my opinion its the ITV producers who have messed up a bit. A bit desperate, surely they could have got someone more famous!

I wouldn't. I suspect plenty more wouldn't either.

Great post wonkey! Even if you do feel compelled to tell the unvarnished truth, there are ways of phrasing these things.

Don't worry, it was Neppy who first mentioned doctors and now he can't remember doing so.

The Special Brew must have kicked in.

Really? Maybe not 'plenty'. That money is a lot of money especially for those who need it. Even if your scared of insects, 100k would be worth it if you don't have a very serious phobia.

I expect it's not just about how famous someone is, but what sort of personality they are. Or how they look with their top off or in a bikini.

I have an allergy to any bites or stings from insects, a wasp sting on my hand was close to being an amputation. One day someone in there is going to have a very bad reaction. (Like Jimmy last night).

Although it was at the expense of Jake. Jake has many jungle mates in there and will get over it soon enough, whereas it is Jimmy's undoing, so maybe in the long run a good thing as it may have diminished Jimmy's chances now his colours are showing.

Buerky must have a lot more than he is ever going to spend in his lifetime, some of it makes no sense to me at all. Currie must be loaded. People like Nadia might need the cash and a boost in the popularity stakes and Jimmy probably needs to pay off debts.

They should do it on a no win no fee basis.

I have saw this mentioned a few times. Why would an ex Premier league footballer be jealous of some one who got voted out of the x factor and a nobody as a singer?

Think it through a bit more.
