Same. I'd only heard of Jake because of the X Factor pages they tend to have in the Sunday papers each week during the show - in other words I recognised the name and face from the headlines without having read the actual articles.
Isn't the point that they are all famous within their fields? If you are a football fan, especially of the clubs Jimmy played for, he is likely to be the biggest star in there for you. 2 years ago, Helen and Colin were for as i'm a huge Doctor Who and Corrie fan but I imagine most others would have rated others higher.
The casting people select from a wide range of different areas to try and appeal to as many viewers as possible - hopefully they'll be one or two campmate in there that everybody knows and are interested in at the start, they get to know others later.
So, really, nobody is 'more' famous or 'more' deserving of their place.
I'd say the really, really famous are people known outside of their field, an Champion you know even if you don't like Sports and didn't see them win or a TV star whose name you know even if you don't watch their show. I'd say most people knew who Larry Hagman and JR Ewing were even if they'd never watched Dallas or Jessica Ennis for example.
But it is rare you get people of that ilk in the Jungle. It has happened but it is rare.
So, really Jimmy had no right to make that judgement about Jake or anybody else. Frankly the millions that watch X Factor this year knew who Jake was.
But the point is the intent, it seemed to be done to hurt which isn't 'telling it like it is' but just cruel. For it To come from someone Jake had clearly considered a friend makes it much worse.
