So according to the Daily Mail the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus won't be flagship devices for much longer as "sources" at Apple have revealed the iPhone 6s will be released in Spring 2015 then the iPhone 7 in Sept/Oct 2015.

If this it true then I guess Apple have just blown the reason why I love them as a company, just liked the fact that users had a whole year of having the flagship device before the new one was released.

Ok yeah I have currently got the iPhone 5s on a 24 month contract (my mistake) but now will be confused come May 2015 when i'm due an upgrade from my old Sony Xperia Z contract.

Sony Xperia Z6s

But anyway, rumour is a rumour.

And this one doesn't sound very likely to me. Not with the way the iPhone 6 is selling.

Best to wait till an official announcement before jumping to conclusions.

Because one person at an obscure US website say it's will happen then it's 100% true?

Apple fans can either sell a kidney or get a payday loan I suppose! Some networks offer tariffs where you can upgrade any time like O2 Refresh. Apple need the money. Don't think just do it

From original article:

But new plans like Verizon NEXT and AT&T EDGE allow more frequent smartphone upgrades than the traditional every other year eligibility, making that traditional timetable obsolete.

While our source stresses that it’s still very early in the decision making process and that Apple could easily change its mind, the mere notion that such a plan is being kicked around points to Tim Cook and company being increasingly willing to break from its patterns.

Just read that Mail article. I had no idea that the iPod Classic had been discontinued because Apple couldn't source the parts anymore. It was quietly dropped at the time of the new iPhone releases.
Shame really, I once owned two of those. The thicker 160Gb Classic and the revised thinner 160Gb in silver. Although they were limited in what they could do, (just an MP3/Video player), I kind of regret getting rid of them now.

Seems unlikely, as the annual releases gives Apple a lot of benefits - not least economy of scale from not having to replace things every five minutes like some other manufacturers (Sony, I'm looking at you!).

Sony and Samsung are now saying they'll scale back their releases. I can remember when Samsung released even more, and even when Nokia had 20+ handset releases in a year 'back in the day'.

It's unsustainable and annoys people at the same time - both end users and the retailers/distributors/operators.

I think the 6s might be coming sooner than we think. The 6 and 6 plus are both flawed designs that ideally need updating quicker than 12 months.

They released two iPads in 2012... actually 3 if you count the Mini the iPad 3 didn't have enough horsepower for the retina display and was quite sluggish they threw out the 4 six months later.

The people getting upset at a possible fix for bendgate because they will no longer have the flagship need to get lives

It's quite possible that they might speed up the iPhone 6 replacement, but that shouldn't necessarily be seen as a sign of that happening at the same rate from then on. Unless messing up at the design stage is going to become a regular thing.

Personally, I think they'll probably just modify the design of the existing iPhone 6 somehow. Not sure how they can strengthen the weak points, but they need to do something as they need that modified design for the next model.

Apple can only suggest you shouldn't put your phone in a tight pocket, or buy a case, for so long.

Apple won't do anything publically. The next iPhones will look identical to the current phones but inside they will be different, i.e. the 6 Plus (Plus?) will be more rigid so it won't bend anymore.

The design won't be changing on the outside until the iPhone 7.

The iPhone 6S will probably look identical to the 6 because it will be identical (physically). Not that I particularly care. Can't say I've seen any sign of my 6 bending yet and I keep it constantly in jeans or shorts pockets.

So just WHY are they selling so well?? (Much to the annoyance of many in this newsgroup - but seemingly nowhere else!)

I agree. My 6 plus hasn't bent yet. I don't keep it my pocket, it stays in my handbag so I don't have to worry about it bending. However I think it was overblown. Yes the phone is not as strong as some other phones (as the tests showed) but if you are sensible and treat your phone with care it won't bend.

Converse trainers also sell well but you need a new pair every six months because of the poor quality of them.

Phones are replaced every 12 months now so people are less concerned about the durability.. that doesn't mean Apple should be allowed to sell garbage...

I'm not so sure they are selling all that well - I have yet to see anyone with an iphone 6 or 6 plus to date.

Every time I see anyone with an iPhone it's always a 4/4S, 5C or iphone 5/5S. Apple's build quality just isn't what it was in my opinion. One of the reasons why I have not upgraded my iPads or iPhone for a while now.

Was going to get the iPad AIR 2 but the screen distortion put me off doing so. The 6S is to big (and bendy).

I've actually seen loads of people with the iPhone 6 plus.

It's funny because I saw a lot of them within days of them going on sale, so it shows how much Apple misjudged for so long the importance of having a large screen.

I think people gradually get used to larger screens and move up with every successive upgrade. I do wonder how far people will go before they reach a self-imposed limit.

You only need to go on the London Underground and you'll see plenty, as well as other large screened phones from Samsung etc.

I think it's safe to say 5-inch screens are now perfectly acceptable and if the bezel is small enough, 5.5-inch seems to be perfectly usable. I'm not sure 6 and 6.4-inch screens, or Samsung's crazy Note 8 that could make calls, will become mainstream though - but maybe I'll be proved wrong!

According to this rumour Apple are working on a 4" iPhone to appeal those people who don't like larger screens.

iPhone 6's are flying in the UK. 6 Plus doing average. I think they will have a bumper Christmas, easily best selling handset.

Up until a few weeks ago I hadn't seen any 6/6 Plus. No they seem to be popping up everywhere. I see lots of people on the train using them now.

Of course, there's a lot (many more than 6's) of 5Cs which is amazing considering it "didn't sell well".

The 5C sticks out like a sore thumb as they are really easy to spot. Relatively low resale value means can be picked up cheaply second hand.

I got my blue iPhone 5c 11 months ago for 20 per month with no upfront cost. It was almost 40 per month for the 5s and a 49.99 upfront cost. I couldn't justify paying 50 quid more and twice as much per month just for a fingerprint scanner. Disregarding the fingerprint scanner, the user experience is virtually identical.

Are you currently on assignment with the BAS? Or perhaps a hermit on Rockall?

There seem to be more people with the iPhone 6 than the 5s these days (at least in the British cities I've been in recently).

I've seen quite a few 6's out and about. Not too many 6 pluses. Reminds me of when I got the original galaxy note and no one had one.

But it didn't at first. That's fact.

It seems to be selling better now, given huge amounts of money promoting it through the summer and other marketing incentives.

If the 5c had simply been the 5s spec but in a different case, rather than 'last year's model' then it could have perhaps done even better.
